So my wife and I will be visiting VT for a few days during the final week of July. We will be arriving at noon on Thursday the 24th and leaving Monday night the 28th. We will be staying in South Burlington. This is the week after the big beer festival. We want to do the obligatory Hill Farmstead visit and will probably try to pick up some Alchemist and Lawson's brews while we are there. I also want to hit a few of the lesser known breweries but time will limit us to some degree. I've got Prohibition Pig on my "to do" list. Any other breweries we should be sure to try? Any tips for the first time visitor? Bottle shops or places to eat? Also, any BA'ers interested in having a bottle share? I have no idea where, but I'm a Tampa resident (we prefer to be called Tampanian's and not Tampons) and I do have some Double Barrel Hunahpu and other CCB brews that I could bring along. Thanks!
If you spend a half-day or full day, then you can hit a lot of the local breweries (excluding the trip to Hill Farmstead, which might be a half or full day). On your Hill Farmstead trip, stop by Lost Nation for a bite to eat and samples (or growlers). Rock Art Brewery is also along that route, so you can get samples and bottles there too. Trapp Lager (Sound of Music family) and Crop Brewery is along that route too. For local (Burlington area) day, you can hit Zero Gravity, Vermont Pub & Brewery, Queen City (should be open by then), Infinity, 4 Quarters, Burlington Beer Company, Fiddlehead, Magic Hat, and Switchback within a few hours (depending how long you stay at each of course). I'd definitely recommend including both Lost Nation and Fiddlehead. While in Burlington area, eat dinner at American Flatbread/Zero Gravity or VPB and then walk across the street and sample the others. Great pubs to sample some great local beer: Farmhouse Tap & Grill (great food) in Burlington, Reservoir & Blackback Pub & Pro Pig in Waterbury
I'm sure its a bit of a recurring theme on this forum, if its any consolation a similar "I'm visiting Florida and want to hit CCB" thread occurs every few days in the South Atlantic side... I feel your pain...
I made one, it appears to have been deleted. This: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/search/29703225/?q=vermont&o=date&c[title_only]=1&c[node]=13
I made this spreadsheet for Vermont for the exact same reason (will be there the same week as you): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...omOs94XacSNsd9docxzzohwiBQ/edit?usp=drive_web It may help out with the breweries.
Because you were condescending about it. Be nice and help people out it would go a lot further. OP I would check out Lost Nation and Fiddlehead.
Condescendinly accusing me of being condescending. Interesting. Sorry if it came across that way, but the "search" box isn't hard to find, and these forums end up clogged with the same question being asked a hundred times.
I'm sorry to have offended your delicate sensibilities. Are there any other things you'd like me to avoid while perusing this forum? Thanks to those who've replied, the link and insights are much appreciated!
Look at Alchemist, Hill Farmstead, and Lawson's web sites and Facebook pages.....to figure out where the good stuff is available.....but stay in Waterbury or visit with the intent of sampling at their bars......the beer Mecca of New England (if you want the premium stuff)..
