Other than Real Ale Sisyphus are there any other good TX barleywines bottled/canned or any same with old ales out there to try? I don't know of any and wonder why local breweries don't try their hand at these or if there is a complexity issue from the brewing stand point I am unaware of.

    Freetail Old Bat Rastard
Saint Arnold DR 12 (will be released in the next couple months since it has been brewed)
Karbach Rodeo Clown (I know it is not a Barleywine, but it is a heavy bodied DIPA w/ 9.5% abv, so it is possibly somewhere in-between. I am aging a couple cans to see how this holds up in a year.)

That's about it. I agree that it is a style that is not fully explored with most TX breweries.

too many new breweries, they are trying to get their beer to the public as quick as possible. maybe once they settle in more breweries will do some.

Independence Jasperilla, but I think it is a pretty crappy version
Live Oak Old Treehugger is awesome.
Deep Ellum is making a Barleywine, but I think it is a long way from being released.
Sisyphus is one of my favorite beers, espesially with a few years on it.
Saint Arnolds next DR release will be an Old Ale, and they have made two Barleywines in the past . Edit, make that 3 Barleywines in the DR series. 1, 6 and 10.

I think Ranger Creek is planning to brew a barleywine later this year.

Just awesomely tasty stuff right there. Every bit as tasty as Bigfoot (another go-between)

Yeah I'd agree that it's pretty much a barleywine and has good potential for aging.

Did you try the 2011? I thought it was much improved from early releases.

No, maybe I should. I have been so underwhelmed with it for so many years that I have given up. Maybe I should give it another shot.

DR10 is really good. I have some aged bottles of it that I'm looking to trade for something rare and interesting, preferably from the western US, or any DR earlier in the series other than 8 or 5.

If you're interested. Of course, if you can find your own source, I still recommend it.

Also, I know you said other than Sisyphus, but they just recently released the '12 batch and though I've only had '11, I've heard very good things about it.
