John will this be bottles only?

This is great news. For those who haven't had anything from Hitachino, I randomly grabbed 3 bottles while traveling just because I had never seen nor heard of them. My little tasting group all agreed they were the most surprising beers of the night. The price point will be crucial for these to succeed here though, $6.50 for a 12oz bottle in Hawaii was rough.

Should drop by a buck or 2 for stateside. Unless, the brewery is in Hawaii.

    Edit.....it's out of Japan.

japanese, and that is pretty typical of prices I have seen around. Had a few, not too impressed... impressive for japan though.

Typically Japanese stuff is way cheaper in Hawaii. And not everything is more expensive over there, Rogue's entire lineup is cheaper in Hawaii compared to Texas. Somehow Maui Brewing is more expensive there than here :astonished:... it's a confusing world.

That is weird. Sounds like some weird tax laws going on.

Isn't Maui also brewed on the mainland? I know one of the Hawaiian breweries has a brewery there and then brew the rest of it stateside....

As for Hitachino, I have had it in the US and it was not 6.50/bottle where I saw it. I would not have bought a Japanese beer if it had set me back that much...

But I also will be in Japan for 1 day in March on a layover. I may have to hunt down a beer store and pick up some local beer since they apparently are having a lot more craft breweries opening up.

MBC is brewed only on the island of Maui, you're thinking of Kona.

It will be bottles and select draft. If I remember correct when I pick it up in Kansas I pay about 4-6 dollars depending on style. Which is only 8-12 for a bomber. For awesome beer that is a bargain, considering it travels half the world to land in my belly!
