Good news: Sam Adams Utopias 2012 (10th Anniversary) was just approved. 27% ABV.

According to my guy at Spec's... he expects possible fist fights this year

2010 was relatively easy... I think this year it might just be damn near impossible to score this given how much bigger the craft beer scene is.

guess this is the new "new beer releases" thread, unless this one gets locked down as well. can't wait for more karbach stuff!

my last thread got locked because of their new rules.. guess we're all too dumb to keep up with a conversation.

"Todd and I talked it over, looked at the feedback that was given to us and we won't be allowing general discussion threads for specific regions. Makes it very confusing for many users to follow ... plus there's been too much pimping and off-topic discussions within them as well."

So would a more specific discussion thread be something like "October New Releases"? It would start fresh each month, be easy to locate and follow, and die off when the month is over

So, now for a serious question. If there are to be no new release threads. No, new label approval threads. Would we be able to post a thread about each new labelto Tx. Each new release to Texas, as a, insert beer here, spotted at Moe's Tavern thread. How are we to know, and let other fellow BA's know, what is new and to be expected?

It's still a $250 beer, which is a limited market. I'd be surprised if there were people lining up to drop that kind of cash on a single bottle of beer. I understand why it cost that much, but I can't justify spending that much.

Read the post about no Regional threads. Every note, question and report should have its own thread.

Obviously that is much more useful.

So if somebody posts a thread and I have a question about the topic, I should post a new thread? Do I need to link to the original thread?

I've got a feeling that Southwest is the "problem kids" forum. We're like hillbillies in a fancy restaurant having too much fun when we're not supposed to.

For some reason Texas is treated like a stepchild on forums. I moderate the Texas forum on a car forum and the other mods are always hypocritical towards us.

I posted in the Feedback section, politely asking why it was locked. The thread was deleted within minutes.

Funny part is I wasn't questioning their logic, just wanted to know their reasoning.

It's likely due to 1) our general inexperience in craft beer (Saint Arnold is the oldest in TX, but they aren't nearly as well established as other, younger powerhouses like DFH and Stone who've impacted the national brew scene) and probably 2) the fact that our product seems to lag in quality and inventiveness compared to fabled national brewers. My statements are subjective, but the way people discuss TX beer is indicative that they represent a general opinion. Jester King's experimental and generally good products have done much to change that opinion, but I don't think one brewery in a state of 26 million people will fully change that opinion.

Most of the people posting in the Southwest forum are Texans. Rarely do I hear anything about breweries in AZ or NM, unless they are coming to Texas. I like that Texans are active in this forum because it keeps me informed and I like that its usually the same group of individuals. I don't want to sound like a stereotypical Texan, because I'm not (I'm from Las Vegas), but maybe Texas should have its own forum. Give Cali its own forum as well and move Nevada to the southwest.
