Old Growth from Trinity a few years ago was easily the sourest I've ever had. It was straight up fruity balsamic vinegar. I put it on a salad.

You obviously haven't had The Bruery's Mother Funker. So sour it hurts.

Had it. RS member. pH was 2.7. Mother Funker when I had that one was 2.9.

I'd say any of our palates probably couldn't tell the sour difference between the two, but I will say that at that low pH, it probably isn't very safe. I imagine back then I pretended to enjoy the nastiest and most sour beer ever. Not so much now. A sour/wild beer needs to be more than just acidic. I think too many beer nerds claim "super sour is super awesome."

How old was the bottle? They released a new batch during GABF and I picked up a couple bottles. Should probably crack at least one of them soon. Perhaps assemble a small group of the worthy for a tasting? Still have those '05 bombers of Arctic Devil and Peche Mortel. Those worthy (you know who you are) should get in touch.

I should also note, the Brain of the Turtle from Trinity was good to start with, but reached outstanding after a year.

I should have been more clear. The Old Growth I had was the first batch, which I believe is 2-3 years old. And I had it 6 or so months ago. Regardless, super sour.

I was just looking at the Label Approval for Priarie Noir, and noticed the approval is for 12 ounce bottles. Also, the keg label shows Prairie Legend, which I haven't heard about since March. I wonder if this is ever coming along.

Bottles of Legend never carbonated to Chase's liking, so it wasn't released.
