I knew Guinnless Extra Stout was bottle conditioned, didn't know FES used to be.
    Edit: NVM found this

Originally a bottle conditioned beer, FES has been pasteurised to ensure quality consistency since 1948. Since 1950, in an attempt to recreate the flavour profile of bottle conditioned FES, the beer has been produced by blending fresh FES with 2 per cent FES that has been aged for up to 100 days, which has developed a high lactic acid content. Finally, the beer is allowed to mature in the bottle for 28 days before being sent out for distribution.

    Soundwave IPA

Certainly a very dry element to this, nice balanced hop level, I must investigate further.

The bottle conditioning helped the fifty odd year old GFES survive it's long slumber in the darkest recesses of the cold shelf. Might've been ebay gold.

Is Fullers Vintage ale 2008 drinking well atm anyone?

Guinness Original was bottle conditioned until sometime in '93, used to be my staple along with bottled Double Maxim, thrash metal and cheap hash.

I know what you mean used to get beer bought for me off my dad when out crown green bowling and when there was only keg we had bottles of of original
and then when out on my own, even though my drinking for beer enjoyment place was the Marble Arch my love of Thrash, Hard and Alternative Rock took me to the Manchester's Metal bars, clubs & venues where Real Ale was scarcer than suits & townies/trendies or Stock Aitken Waterman though there Original was often absent so Newkie Brown was downed and the bar staff looked at me strange when I asked for one from the crate not the fridge
though heard a tale where some of my friends travelling to Newcastle to see a very early Wildhearts gig and claimed to have had handpumped NBA which they claimed was undrinkable as was warm, flat & tasted funny.
Part of me didn't believe them & part of me was jealous & angry at pearls before swine.

I can't recall Dog ever being served from cask, (if the gig was at the Riverside there were keg beers with a false hand pull I seem to recall but I could be wrong.) Maybe they encountered cask Exhibition, many people only ever see the blue star and think "Brown!"

I used to buy two or three bottles of Dog at a time depending on the venue, one in hand one in either combat jacket pocket.
The Cumberland Arms, prior to its most recent incarnation as a family friendly ale house, was a rough as fuck estate pub so cheap enough to hold punk gigs, where local ne'er do wells rolled jazz woodbines on the bar, only one urinal remained attached to the wall in the gents but lacked any waste pipe so the piss ran onto your shoes and cold bottles of Dog were only available for the length of the 1st support bands set. Hence the hoarding of bottles in army surplus outerwear.

Oh and The Wildhearts are from my home town, Danny and his bro Chris from 3CR drank in one of my usual haunts. I knew Danny from back when he was in a thrash band with some friends of mine, smashing lad.

Newkie is a guilty pleasure of mine, I have to admit. Especially at £3.50 for 4 cans (proper 500ml cans too). Quaffable stuff.

Banks/Green Flash Citra Session IPA. Nice enough, bit thin, not as hoppy as you'd think.

    Not at moment
I think ideally something I've wanted for a while but never managed to get
Zombie dust, Pliny, Black Albert or there is an American mild called Ghetto blaster

I've seen some Black Albert Damnation in the Manchester spec beer shop but I think it's £30
and as much as I love beer my family like luxuries like meals EVERY day

My first ale love was cask (Marston's Merrie Monk) so maybe beer 1000 should be in the pub

    Whatever it is
I hope it's better than this Pelforth Brune
    It's yawnsville
