Brewdog Cardiff has been granted its license... Apparently it will be situated just down the street from the Urban Tap House. Coincidental.

Pint of Crouch Vale Blackwater Mild. Lovely stuff. I wouldn't trade a decent mild for any other beer.
As the Marquis had both Hopheads on I had a glass of each. The Brewster's was hoppier and more bitter, the Dark Star had a slightly richer background. As before, I slightly prefer the Brewster's but wouldn't be too upset if forced to drink the Dark Star.
Nice that the prices are still reasonable.

Here are the two Hopheads freshly pulled. They both settled to crystal clear.

It’s a commodity lager. Having said that, it’s not the worst one. I’d far rather drink Tennent’s than Carlsberg or Fosters. Actually, I’d rather drink Tennent’s for £2.90 than Peroni for a fiver, too.

    What's the Kelham's like
I keep putting them on Waitrose home delivery orders
and they never have them in.

For me a cheeky beer since I have a long shift tomorrow
    Blodwen's beer
I normally quite like Tomos Watkins
but this was barely better than Foster's
really didn't get much hop flavour at all :(

A decent enough ale - pretty traditional in character. Think I got it from my local ASDA but they've since pulled them off the shelves....

Now on a Brewdog Hoppy Christmas.

You know what I like about Huddersfield
NO not nothing, do you think I'm cutting with my comments lol

    It's Mallinson's Brewing Company
Consistently good beer that is bottle conditioned and packed with flavour & not that pricey
Opened a bottle of their Nelson Sauvin as it is the equivalent of Friday in my wonky week.

  24. EmperorBevis

EmperorBevis Sep 25, 2011 United Kingdom (England)

    Beer Compliment sandwich tonight
    having had Mallinson's single hop
Nelson Sauvin - a New Zealand hop that is intensely flavoursome

onto the Japanese Asahi "Super Dry"

and then after that the realisation of a beer drinkers dream

Gotta say I was less than impressed considering the hype behind it. Not the first time that has happened with an American craft beer.

Going by their beers I've had thus far I can't say I'd rush to pick up Founders again bar their Old Curmudgeon.
Backwoods Bastard sounds like it could be worth a punt.

  29. EmperorBevis

EmperorBevis Sep 25, 2011 United Kingdom (England)

Perhaps the Founders Breakfast hype came about because when it was first brewed it had very little competition
and by the time it has gotten to us, we have had some absolutely massive expresso/coffee/Mocha flavour bombs.

    I will say though
it is a very good coffee stout that is supremely balanced on the coffee flavour
I drank on cask some Summer Wine Expresso beer
which was so coffee intense that it was like the filter of a coffee maker bursting
it felt like chunks of ground coffee in my mouth and throat.

However, does it deserve the 100 score mark it has on here?
    Not quite.

I was disappointed with founders breakfast stout in I don't think it was that balanced too much green fresh coffee. Speedway stout is a much better example.

The beer for me tonight is Fraoch Heather ale vintage cask no 22 very nice.

Making a slow cooked stew for tomorrow
splitting a Shep Neame Christmas Ale between me and the pot.

    Slightly better than I remember
then again there were a lot of top class beers being necked by myself during the festivities
so it may have paled in comparison

Good Job, my dad says he got a big load of 'em real cheap and is dropping off some.
