And what would this double Oakham cocktail be called Bev?

Aaaw baws! I'm out of Oakham, so no mixing for me atm.
Whatever you settle on name-wise Bev, make sure you get a piece of the action from the brewery if it takes off.

Off to B & Ms for supplies, maybe I can rustle up summat from Citra and JHB...

    Funny you should mention Citra
it is the only Oakham beer I have seen/drank on cask
and I actually preferred it out of a bottle????

New style of beer for me tonight, a faro. Best served chilled or room temp?

It was pretty nice actually. Sort of mango-y tropical fruits, almost like coca-cola, and a burnt sugar & cinnamon taste with a soft hint of vinegar acidity.

also Brain's Barry Island fails completely as US IPA.

V poor no big aroma but a hint of lemon sherbet
& rather sour, off taste. Did
Simon Martin (not au fait with him) try it b4 putting his name to it?

    How about 'the Mancunian Mangler'?

Just cracked a bottle of Great Newsome's Harvest's Gold. Quite nice.....

Has Tescos American Double IPA always been so hopless? I said HOPLESS. Not that I mind a sweet beer but..

It's up & down like my ex wife's knickers
    I.e. a lot
though some reckon it's never on.

You think that's bad, you should try boilermaker. One of the maltiest beers I've ever had. It's weird because a lot of the other Brains Craft Beers are/were pretty decent. Nice hefes, a great lager, plus the saison is apparently quite good.

Looking at this Simon Martin it does really fit with his internet persona
ie nothing to do with good beer.

Now I think would be a good time to try Shep Neame's much maligned 6.1% India Pale Ale
good that is in the interest of SN

you have to admit some of his reviews are hilarious, stumbling over Westvleteren as he shakes the bottle about before pouring it, or saying you can really taste the malt in a Japanese Rice beer.

You know if they named this Shep Neame India Pale Ale something like
    Uncle Bongo's Tasty Ale
    or Daft Buggers Best Bitter
it wouldn't be too bad, it's a just above average enjoyable beer
IPA? No? Nearly, cranked up bitterness and less malt might make it more of a trad IPA
even so more of a U.S. IPA than Barry Island :flushed:
