So good mate. First session in a month - last one was Tiny Rebel too. Full Nelson in particular is an amazing beer.

Went to The Sussex Arms last night, a superb, recently renovated pub in Twickenham. Many beers were had but the knock-out was a 4.9% stout named Black Port, by the Blackedge brewery. So Goddamn delicious.

Out today-MG weather again-to the Royal Oak in Car Colston. Although a Marston's pub with restricted beer choice the landlord keeps all his beers superbly well ; well enough to have been our POTY and go on to be the Nottinghamshire Pub of the Year.I had the Wadworth's Red, White and Brew which was a delightfully old fashioned bitter and it was just superbly bitter like the old Shipstone's was.Followed with a pint of Brakspears Bitter, an old favourite which works wonders for the gravity.Being the driver the gravity is important.
Great pub, stands next to the biggest village green in England in a totally unspoilt village. And though out in the sticks it was packed on a Thursday lunchtime.

The only thing worse is the hangover that kicks in while you're still drinking a brew - Sakara King I'm looking at you....

Now on a Leeds Best. 's OK.

Luckily the actual drinking was great. I just sat there and over 3 hours guzzled (half pints)
    3x Flux black pale ale
2x Full Nelson maori pale ale
    1x Urban ipa
1x Dirty Stop Out smoked oat stout
1x Vanilla Oak Aged Dirty Stop Out - poured straight from the oak barrel
1x Ardbeg 2001 barrel aged Grand Regal Stout

Didn't try any other breweries, the top two beers were just so good I had to keep going back.

Friday is Fish and Chip night at the Marquis (where do you think I got my name?) so Mrs.Marquis drove me there and, thankfully, back.Excellent food as always, a chat with Sara the brewer (mostly about the MG but also mentioning poor old Scoop who did a brew with her not long ago)...began with Oldershaw's Grantham Dark as I can't resist a decent mild and then moved over to Brewster's IPA , 6% ABV and rather nice. She was using large amounts of West Coast hops long before it became fashionable.[IMG]

Started off with an Augustijn Blonde and am now sipping on a Castle Rock Screech Owl. Not too shabby....

Tiny Rebel got 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the champion beer award, first time a brewery has done that apparently. Not surprising though!

Moved the garden, now sitting in the sun with a Sorachi Ace. It is, funily enough, ace.

Regretting not going to the Great Welsh - Tiny Rebel's stuff looked great. But the house needs sorting before we move, which luckily means I have to drink a great many Trappists this week. Chimays, Westmalles and Rochforts still to go.

I'm drinking a Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale. Why am I posting this in the UK group? Fresh, it is a total mix of hops and malt, neither one over the other..balanced and good. With some age on it, it becomes a malty marvel. Something you blokes in the UK are very good at..

Having my first British ale in a while now.

It's the Summer Wine Mokko Milk Stout. Ticks the boxes I guess, you can sense the craftsmanship. Milk stouts are just not my cup of tea though. That creamy lactose sweetness throws me off every time, it's like someone put too much sugar in my cuppa.
