This was an interesting read, particularly the distribution portion which has always fascinated me. I had heard most of the background in this particular case. But more generally, this seems like an area that is overly legislated and gives too much weight of power to distributors. There's a somewhat logical argument to keep breweries from arbitrarily walking away from distributors

To the beer - I went last night to get one of the newest Le Grand Mondes and they had all the LGM's all on tap as an end of year thing. I had a small pour of 2018-1 *(black currants, vanilla, wild barrel aged) and it has me wishing I'd re-upped my 2017 membership in 2018.

I love the LGM’s but I never open them because they’re too big for a solo night. I really hope they’d consider moving down to the Side Project size.

Probably would need a whole new bottling line. Although I guess that could be considered for the new place.

Love this brewery and I’m looking forward to the new place. Hope they have room for a few Belgians as well.

Nice to see the NW side getting some media. Alarmist is also another great brewery, though on the other side of the forest preserve.

Well in other news, the new V (citra/mosaic) is pretty terrible

Sarcasm or no? I've been a big fan of most of their canned V series, but this one was off to me. Reminded me of when they were in bottles and had overly sweet/malty, sometimes almost buttery, characteristics.

Most others seem to have really enjoyed it.

Zero sarcasm. I struggled through the entire can. I just hated the overall flavor of it.

I’ll agree. Regret picking up a 4-pack. Very Carmel/malty flavor

Anything you guys do to spread a LGM overnight? Recapping isn’t an option for me. Wine cork? Or just let it sit open and uncovered? I want to open LGM-1 later tonight but know I can’t handle a 750 of that much sour

Do you have any mason/ball jars?

Just pour the beer slowly so you don’t lose a lot of carb

I thought the most recent V8 missed the mark, and whichever one I had before that (either v4 or a single hop) left 1/4 inch of floaters at the bottom of the glass from every pour. I'm not sure what exactly changed or is going on. I'm a member and been buying their beer since the first fresh series bomber. Around this time last year, I thought they were really starting to dial in the IPAs but my past few pickups have been nothing like how they used to be. I thought it was just my palate (as I think FR's NEIPAs have gone way downhill and don't understand the HB hype), but my brother in Boston brought treehouse for xmas and I definitely still love NEIPAs.

Anyone been picking up recent cans of their IIPAs? They were my go-to last summer, and then just fell off for me. Enough in a row that I haven’t picked any up in months now. Wondering how others have found them recently.

Same for me. Last summer they will amongst the best in the area, and then I hit a stretch of a few in the fall that were not good. Haven't bought since.
