Good morning fellow imbibers. My local brew store is selling singles of Schneider-Weisse Aventinus Tap 6 for $2.25 each. I really enjoy this beer, and I'm wondering if this is a good or average price. It just seems low for a beer of this quality. Any thoughts ?

BUY IT. That beer is world class, and that's a good price, too. Anything less than $4 is generally pretty good.

We get it in my part of Canada for $3.99 each and I thought even that was a great price....for $2.25 a bottle I would bathe in the stuff*.

    *possible hyperbole

Thanks, everyone. The weird thing is, it's not on sale - it's always been that price. And as best as I can tell, it's fresh and the stock rotates. Time to stock up !

It wasn't that long ago (maybe 2-3 years?) that beer was in the BA top 25. At that price, it's $ for $ one of the best beer values you'll ever see.

I first tried it maybe nine or ten months ago, and loved it. It's not something I'd want to drink 8 of on a hot summer day, but now that the temperature is finally dying down a bit here in Alabama, it will be perfect for cool fall evenings.

As others have said it’s a very good price. Stocking up with several bottles, if you have a place to store them properly, is also a good idea since, as already noted, it ages beautifully.

To get a sense of what happens with bottling aging you might want to take a look at both my review and comments on aged versions.

I think it's $4.49 or something like that here in Florida. Buy it.

Buy it, it is usually higher priced here in Tennessee. More like $4.99 a bottle.

$3.99 here in Jacksonville. I say they screwed up. I have found older bottles for 2.99 in some places. hint eurostreet cafe hidden in back of shelf. lol

that is one of those beers at 2.25 I buy them out and drink all the time, but at 3 its gets hard and at 4 its nuts, any higher and I flat do not buy them except for my BD. some of us on fixed incomes just have to draw the line somewhere. Its why I home brew. :grinning:

btw you can price compare buy going to total wine online look-up prices.

Awesome price. That it's your everyday price is something I'm jealous of. That beer works so well for me this time of year

Damn, that's a great price. I wish I could find it for so cheap here. Cheapest I've seen is $3.49.

Age won't be a factor either since the beer isn't hoppy and has a high ABV, so it should hold up well. Just in case the Aventinus is "on sale" or something for being "old".

They may be pricing it the same as regular Schneider-Weisse, which is less expensive. Buy it.

I actually had a bottle in my hand today.. for $4.99. Put it back when I found the last bottle of Allagash Merveilleux tucked away behind some random bottles. The Tap 6 will be there next time, the Merv will not.
