Sweet, I hope there's an M coming to my front door!

Surprised by some of the results:
How high Splinter Blue, Mimosa, and Papier set ranked.
How low 96 Cantillon Rose and Gueuze rated

Keep in mind.. anything with a 0 or less True points just wasn't ranked enough to get meaningful info

    interesting markers of ranks:
    Midnight Sun M
    Wooden Hell
    J&J Roze
    Blabaer batch 7/Beatification PH1
    50N4E
    Izzabelle Proximus
    Crianza Helena
    Rye Papier
    Partridge in a pear tree
    09 Black Tuesday
    Chocolate Rain Batch 1/Veritas 007

relatively consistently ranked in that order across all rounds of the unwanted whales BIF

J&J Blauw however... has been probably the most variable ranking!

When. Will we know the targets? And do we know what we're getting or is it a surprise.

I once tried to trade a 50N4E for an IP, but it took two weeks and I eventually had to add a DL to get my 1st IP ever. I was also regularly offered IP plus something else nice for a Crianza. It's funny how much perceived value has changed in two and a half years.

I had no idea really where to put that beer. Makes sense about the 0 or less True points.

My beer ranked a bit lower than where I put it - which I expected. *fingers crossed*

Stonewall sunk like a rock huh?
Funny to see stuff up there and wonder how the hell some things got above others, unless people just really wanna try them or they want to hold onto the newer stuff as hopeful future investments.

Honestly, I've never even heard of it, so I wasn't going to trade what I put up for that beer.

Wait, 2011 Blabaer above Blauw? Talk about some serious WTF.

I dont blame you. I wouldnt give up a ton for it either but it is/was pretty highly regarded in the whale hunting community.
My post was more of a two thought thing though about how certain things slid far down the list but after looking theres a lot of beers that I can see are close to each other and it makes a little more sense.

I would tend to agree, except this was a 375ml bottle. If it was a full 750ml bottle, it would have been up there in the top 10 for sure. I would still rather have that bottle than anything ranked after the top 15...it is about on par with a Helena due to the size in my opinion. The Rose is a '97. Maybe they don't hold up? I would still take my chances with that one over Stonewall...

I enjoyed at 2000 Rose recently and it was drinking mighty beautiful! Potent punch of sour, but nice rounded tart/sweetness with soft fruit. Sometimes people get nervous (rightfully so) with aged beers as it is hard to tell if they've been cellared/stored properly.

I'm shocked to see hunahpu even on a whale list. I'd trade a hunahpu 10 for a vagabond, the series of abyss, or the black note in a heartbeat. Like cam said, the bottom feeders are bottom feeders but still, any hunahpu's is no whale at all.

yeah, I accepted several things that are very much not whales more just to prove to myself and others that they don't belong in the conversation.

Surprisingly, I accepted Mimosa wondering where it would end up and it ranked rather highly...

Mimosa has been trading for crazy things. Will they be making that again? I'm fairly certain Damon is being made again...

Suprised at the 04 05 dark lord. I think I put them in the bottom 10

I think that's the thing with a couple of these beers... while the "trade value" on some of them is really high, if you come across someone who's actually looking to get a beer they plan on drinking (shocking!)... a bunch of them are way over the hill at this point.

This goes back to the OPs post in Unwanted Whales 3. A bunch of the really rare beers listed have very high trade value but there's so much variation in how they're ranked I think, because people differed in whether they were looking to swap trade bait (looking for just rarity), or whether they were looking for something they would actually open (taste).

Not only that. There are some beers that have high trade value that most people would be happy just to have tried once or just want to collect. This would probably be the 04 and 05 Dark Lords and Partridge type novelty beers. Then there are the things that maybe people already have one of but would still really like to get more: Blabaer, J&J's, one-off Cantillon, etc.
