April 30, 2013 --Upland Brewing Company today announced that on June 4 they will begin accepting entries for a Sour Release lottery to include their latest batch of Lambic-style ales. The lottery will be available online at http://UplandSours.eventbrite.com and will open at noon EDT. Winners of the lottery will have options to purchase these exclusive beers in limited quantity. More details on what will be ready for release and quantities will be available in the weeks ahead.

Upland is recognized nationally and internationally for these wild-fermented ales, traditional Belgian beer style known as Lambics. Upland utilizes local fruits to blend with its Lambics, so brewing occurs only when thee fruits are available.

As part of its Sours program Upland also holds an annual festival celebrating this beer category, the Midwest Sour Wild Funk Fest. This year the event occurs on Saturday, May 11 at 1:00 pm in Indianapolis. Upland will welcome over 20 breweries with more than 60 different beers. Tickets are available at http://UplandSourFest.eventbrite.com and include beer tasting, food pairings and a commemorative tasting glass. Partners for this event include Kahn’s Fine Wines and Spirits, Twenty Tap, and Great Fermentations Home Brew Supply. Keep Indianapolis Beautiful will receive proceeds.

We will run the lottery like other allocations. You find out if you got an allocation, and you have some time to make arrangements for pick up. That won't change. And, now that we've opened another location, people can pick up from Broad Ripple, Carmel, and Bloomington.

Is there any confirmation on both the previous Persimmon reservations that were postponed as well as the Sour Reserve tickets given in line?

We are currently trying to figure that out. We will have something worked out by the time we release the Persimmon and the Sour Reserve B3.

So are there only so many lottery tickets available (like DLD tix)? Or will the site be up for a certain amount of time for you to get a lottery # after which your number is drawn at random?

Just trying to figure if this is a mad rush first come first serve, or a true lottery.

There will be a certain amount of allocations. I'm not sure how exactly we're going to do it, but it won't be based on first come, first served.

As we get closer, we will announce more specific details.

And just to be clear, pick ups can occur by someone with a photo ID or copy of one? Like Sour Reserve 2?

    Thanks!

Crazy geeked for this. Moved to Indy 2 months ago, and I've been very excited waiting to get my hands on some Upland sours and lambics. I was in the Bloomington pub yesterday and had a taster, and was impressed by everything poured.

Ill be at the Sour Fest coming up. Really hope Upland has some kiwi to pour.

I was in the group that purchased the SR B2 last October and got the reservation for the next release. I wonder how soon we will know more details about it.

I truly wished I lived closer to Indy to drink more of Upland's awesomeness. Michigan really needs to step up it's sour program as JP can't do it all on their own.

Nope not in reference to meads. You have to have a winery license in Indiana to do that, and currently the same company can't own both a winery and a brewery license.
