Upright Brewing is now distributing a VERY limited amount of their stuff to Chicago.

There were about 25 cases of each of the four beers sent.

They sent Four, Five, Six, and Seven in the first shipment.

I'm not sure if this counts as pimping a store or not since I work here; but starting on possibly Thursday, for sure Friday, the Hinsdale Wine Shop will have all four varieties available at $13.99 per 750mL bottle.

I am also unsure of any other retailer who will be receiving the Upright beers. I can ask my rep who else is taking cases and then update the thread.

I for one an very excited this brewery is now in Chicago since they make some top shelf saisons. I'm hoping subsequent shipments include some of their seasonals, most notably the Gose as well as some draft.

Whoa, that's awesome. I've loved everything I've had so far from Upright.

    Who is distributing them?

A really cool distributor called Cream Wine Company has taken them on. This is the first brewery in their portfolio.

I love the fact that stores in the suburbs are able to get new/cool/exciting beers and sell through them. It proves, to me anyway, that craft beer is sustainable and isnt just an urban yuppie thing, but everyone is waking up to having flavor in their beer...which is what ALL of us retailers are working towards. Good on you guys

FULL DICLOSURE: im totally gunna try and get cases :stuck_out_tongue:

It's not only the suburbs, it will also be in the city, but I have no idea where. Feel free to try for cases, if you can't get it then I can say I can finally get a beer that Adam can't!

My shipment of a case of each came in this morning. So it should be popping up at other stores/bars soon as well. I don't have the name of any other places that have ordered it yet though.

Is this kind of like a trial where if these sell well they will ship more/different beers?

Not in our system yet, Vav, but a chance encounter with the Cream rep the other day led to a case of each comin' to me today. Should be all too easy for you to order soon enough...

    Huh?

I had our wine manager order some and we were told it wasn't shipping yet.

It's possible...I just asked the rep to toss a case of each onto our Cream order, and she told me "No problem," and that they'd come in with our next shipment (today's). We'll see what happens when Cream shows up in a bit...

Anybody tried any of the Upright yet? Interested whether it's worth the $14.

I haven't had them in bottles, but I tried a flight at the brewery in January. Very good stuff. Seven is probably my favorite, but Four is a wonderful session beer.

Worth is all about eye of the beholder. As a huge saison fan I think they are totally worth the $.

For what its worth, my preference is 7>4>6>5 with 7 and 4 being my favorites by a wide margin.

They use the 3711 French Saison strain, so more fruity than something like Dupont which is all about the black pepper phenolics.
