I'm heading to Charlotte, NC for the weekend of April 1st. Will be staying at the Hilton Charlotte Uptown. Any recommendations for breweries in the Uptown area? I think D9 Brewing is the closest to the hotel, but I don't know anything about them.

D9 Uptown is closed (and never opened, really). Are you dead set on walkability? Because that will be tough. If a quick Uber or light rail ride is acceptable you'll be awash in great options.

Also what styles do you prefer? Are you alone or with kids/dogs/coworkers etc.?

Thanks for the update on D9. It's just myself and a friend, so no issues with kids/dogs/whatever. We will have a car, just trying to figure out what places are worth stopping by.

I'm pretty open to beer styles, but I drink my fair share of IPA's. We just want to try some local beers that we don't see in Virginia.

One place Uptown that isn't a brewery is the Cellar at Duckworth's. Make a reservation and ask for a cellar tour. They are pretty much guaranteed to have a stellar tap list, and the bottles available in the actual cellar are extensive. Great food too.

Yeah that thread has the most up to date info and has my recommendations. Couple of updates:
    - Sycamore still hasn't opened the new location yet so you can't visit (they sold the old building)
    - Legion has opened their production facility on Morehead as a taproom/restaurant.
    - Noda Brewing "OG" is open on the weekend.
    - Burial Taproom open

Obviously in spring you don't need to worry about the sun. Every patio will be perfect.

Hit up Resident Culture, Triple C, Divine Barrel, Burial, HopFly (and Olde Meck if you like lagers) and then just fill in the time with what's around. The breweries are very clustered together. Nothing is very far, either by lightrail or $5 uber, from Uptown.

If you take out Triple C (though they'd be close to the list for me I think) and hit up Salud (especially if its around lunch time), that'd be my exact list I think. With Fonta Flora and Heist Barrel Arts being next on the list.

Any opinions on Armored Cow Brewing? Any of their beers that you recommend? I've never heard of them, but I have to pick up my race packet for the Craft Beer Half Marathon & 5 Miler there, so I will have to at least try their beer.

Similar to a number of NC breweries - perfectly solid, nothing that would make you recoil nor schedule a return trip ASAP. Perfectly competent, down the middle versions of styles. Nice people and location.

If you have a chance try to get by High Branch. They do a lot of smaller batch beers, sours, stouts etc as well as plenty of hazies if that is your thing. They are also right next door to Cabarrus and they tend to do more standard styles of beer. The two compliment each other very well IMO. Concord is not very far from Charlotte and it's worth a trip.

Everyone's mileage will vary, but if you're Uptown for a short trip there's nothing in Concord you can't get much, much closer. It'd be like sending someone in downtown Asheville to Highland or Pisgah - both are lovely places with good beer, but you're doing a lot of traveling for nothing unique.

Yeah...I don't like driving from SouthEnd to Plaza Midwood, let alone up to Concord. High Branch doesn't do anything that can't be found here with a $6 uber from uptown. Now if you are already driving up 85...sure stop in.

I appreciate all of the suggestions. To summarize our trip. We stopped at Bull City Burger & Beer in Durham for lunch and a beer. Seemed like a nice spot.

In Charlotte we hit Armored Cow Brewing, Legion, Noda, Wooden Robot, Hopfly and the Craft Tasting Room & Growler Shop.

We really liked Wooden Robot and the Craft Tasting Room.

Is this the Charlotte thread? haha. Did I miss the official one?

Not uptown specific thoughts, but we visited some friends that live in Noda this past weekend and hit up a few spots. Just wanted to mention how great Salud was, maybe not the most aesthetically pleasing spot from the outside, but everything we tried there was good and lots of to go options.
Also enjoyed Resident Culture and Fonta Flora in Optimism hall.
And not terrible beer choices at the Charlotte FC match as well compared to some other stadiums we've been to recently.
