I felt the taster was honestly a little weak. Sure almost no carb and half a taster glass of it won't exactly give me the best opinion, but there was either something on the back end or I forgot what peach skins tasted like. This was of course coming on sunday after alesmith and pretty much hating being in a car (I hate driving, I really do) so already my mood was not a beer-drinking mood.

Gave my second taster ticket (the better half's) away since we really just showed up to grab bottles and go due to a prior engagement we had. The guy I gave it to seemed less thrilled about getting another taster, but hey..free beer is free beer.

I'll crack a bottle soon and see what version of this nectar lives inside.

I thought this taster was 100000 times better than the taster we got last year. This one had carbonation (not a lot, some) on it and you got a feel for what the beer would be. The '15 taster I had was so flat all I tasted was oak, but the bottle was great... so this was a step in the right direction, I guess.

I haven't tried it from the bottle yet, but hopefully there's improvement from the taster as that's been the case as long as I can remember with Veritas.

Sadly I wasnt that impressed by the taster of 16. I thought 15 had no carb but the fruit flavor was strong and it was perfectly carbed in the bottle. I thought the 16 taster while carbed had way less fruit flavor and a sharp Brett character to it similar to what someone was saying above comparing it to tonic water. It wasnt bad but not as good as 15. I'm going to let my bottles sit for a while and see was the Brett does. I found it interesting that Lost Abbey was very specific to mention Brett in the description rather then American sour like they did for 15

Are you sure you weren't drinkng Almanac? All joking aside, that's sucks that you got no fruit...I thought the taster had good fruit coming through, and the bottle better. Not straight juice and jammy by any means, but I thought it had a lot of stone fruit coming through.

I'm waaay too happy about Parabajava news (and the fact that I can go to the release) to be bent over anyone's differing viewpoint.

I had the same reflection. Decent peach and apricot at least. Creamy mouthfeel with low carb. It wasn't spectacular, but at least enjoyable.

I liked the V15 taster even though it wasn't carb'd it was so fruit forward to me and I knew with Carb it would be a lot better. Honestly, I didn't like the V16 taster...sure the carb was there. It tasted oaky and bitter. The nose had peaches, but the taste didn't. So i'm hoping the bottle will be better.

Didn't like the taster but opened a bottle and it was pretty awesome. :grinning:

PS question on the taster was it just me or was it a half fill taster?

Half fill on ours. Anyone else try the house sour on Sun (Apricot/Nectarine)? Though a touch heavier and less complex than V015, if that becomes an all the time thing I'd be happy.

I thought the taster was really good. Had a nice fruit flavor and didn't finish overly acidic. Can't wait to crack a bottle. I would love to see house sour be the new red barn. 13 cuvee, red poppy and framboise were all really good... but did anyone hit Churchill's after Saturday pick up? They had Churchill's finest sour on. Damn that beer was fantastic

The house sour was really nice and I loved the V16 taster but the Deliverance '13 stole the show for me.

I'm glad others mentioned the half taster, I went later on Sunday and was wondering if they were starting to run out and thats why I got a half taster. I appreciate that they give us a taste, but it was literally two sips. I would expect a little more when you are purchasing some of the most expensive bottles out there, but I suppose they have no reason to change or give more since they can sell every one of them.

Have you guys ever gone to one of these before? In the past the sample was given in a small plastic cup poured from a jockey box in the barrel room. I was actually pleasantly surprised it was in a small taster glass this year. Thinking it was slightly more than past releases but hard to say.

Just spent an hour and a half working through a bottle. Fantastic beer (review posted), and while the release info says "Veritas 016 is a blended Oak-Aged Sour and the first in the Veritas line to include white peaches" I think a lot of folks assumed this meant it would be a peach bomb because that is what drives hype these days.

Long story short, the peach is very subtle and the funk and sour are deep but the real take home is that this beer is akin to a high end Belgian lambic as opposed to an American wild. Considering the shit-show it takes to land a bottle of the former, I am super happy to have brought home a few V016 w/ minimal hassle.

Couldn't have written this better myself. I'm a bit confused as to what the expectation was for some...
