heading up on Thursday, will be passing through Montpelier and have a tenative plan to hit Hill Farmstead (after doing Pro Pig, some heady spotting, and the Mt Mansfield toll road...) If HF doesn't happen, any good ideas for growler fills? CBC Waterbury only does their own. I can't buy any more growlers. on the HF front...on a Thursday afternoon, what's a good estimate for in & out time? 2 hours? The lineup this week looks pretty stacked. Cheers!
I rolled into hillfarm last Thursday at 3:45, no wait Prob 10 people having samples and talking beer with the staff/Brewers. Had samples and order filled in less than 30. Smooth as can be. Per vt law stores can only fill their growlers, brewerys can fill any growlers, that said some will only fill their own or specific sizes/color/shapes.
I recall a bottle shop down the street from Three penny taproom in Montpelier that was filling growlers as of last October. Had 5 or 6 taps. Could check in with them.
I am assuming that you are aware that the Pro-Pig Brewery does crowler & growler fills of their own tasty offerings.
@mrz200 What did you end up doing? Heading to VT Thursday and will be in Waterbury on Friday morning/early afternoon. I'll stop at CBC but wondering what else you found. Anyone with info on growler fills near Okemo?
Thanks @youbrewidrink ! Did not know that. I'll keep that in mind. That is just their beers, correct? Not other breweries drafts.
Jolley in Jericho has 4 rotating taps. you must pay deposit on the growler though. right now tap is 14th star IPA, Rock Art limited access, zero gravity conehead.
If you are making it to Burlington there is the Growler Garage in South Burlington just off of exit 14E on I89. They can only fill their own growlers, but I believe they will take one of yours in trade for one of theirs which they can then fill. They are also a small bottle shop, not to mention the normal taps that they run of brews from Vermont and around the country.
Pennsylvania, though not a state known for very good beer laws seems to be pretty free with it's growler fills. I've been to two places that fill growlers and you can even drink them on site. From what I've seen (Pizza Boy), you can get anything, beers they brew, other brewers, in the growler.
