I've always thought it's overpriced....but also good. If that makes sense.

Wait, here's how it makes sense: You know how certain limited release bottles were great at $13, but at $17 are kind of a hard pill to swallow? It's like that, but with food.

I was planning on bringing a bottle or something to share with locals. Do any bars or beer bars allow you to bring beer on site to consume?

All alcohol must be opened by an employee of the establishment, per OLCC rules.

If the place is packed, probably not cool.

If they're down for it or have a corkage fee or something similar, probably no big deal. I'd highly recommend reaching out to the bar/brewery that you were considering bringing something to in order to vet it with them ahead of time.

^ pretty much this. A number of places in town are cool with this, but it goes without saying that you need to ask permission in advance, and have them open it for you. Growler Guys, Arch Bridge Taphouse and Beermongers would probably be your best bet, IMHO.

BCBS nonsense aside, is there anything fun going on this weekend? I know Green Dragon is doing a Black Friday dark beer event, but I haven't seen/heard much beyond that.

I think my friends and I are going to check out that barleywine release at Ecliptic Brewing on Saturday since we are planning a brewery hop on Friday of about 5 breweries in SE Portland.

My wife and I are driving to Cannon Beach on December 30th and going to make a quick stop in Portland during the day. Plan on stopping at Hair of the Dog for lunch and of course beer. I am also going to make my first trip to Belmont Station since I have heard so many good things about this shop.

Any other events going on around this time? Since we are going to be in Portland only for a few hours during the day I assume there would not be any events going on around that time.

The next day we are going to make the drive to De Garde. I have been looking forward to visiting them for a long time. I would ask if there are any beer related spots I should check out in Cannon Beach, but from what I have read in prior posts there is not a lot going on beer wise in Cannon Beach

I miss the NW 23rd to the Pearl. Havent been to PDX in several years so I am sure things have changed...but some of my best days were started at The Lompoc on 23rd...and heading towards the River....lol. Rarely did I make it past The Kingston.......

If you only have a few hours, probably going to HotD & Belmont will be enough of an event. If you're feeling saucy, you could toss in APEX or Beermongers or The Commons or Cascade or Imperial or Growler Guys (all in the general vicinity) and build your own beer event.

In Cannon Beach, you've got Bill's Tavern & Brew House and Cannon Beach Hardware & Public House. Bill's is fine, I guess. I haven't been to CB in a couple years, so not sure what the hardware store tap list is like these days, or if there's anything else decent that's popped up around town. You'll be missing out on the new Pelican CB location by a few months.

Lompoc Tavern is now in the new building and it's completely different (outdoor seating is now in the front of the pub).
New addition to the alphabet district is McMenamins 23rd avenue bottle shop (23rd & Thruman)
