Is silver dollar still at 21st and Glisan? I lived next door to it as a kid in the early 80's and have had many good times as an adult there..

I have no idea how PDX is on NYE, but it seems to be an unnecessary thing to put on a release/beer event that night. There are so many more folks than typical out and about, every bar/restaurant will have enough business without having to try to draw in more.

I've always wanted to be the one to say that...

Nobody comes here unless it's for weed. I will give a shout out to Heathen Brewing. Really good stuff from they're year round IPA, to their barrel programs. That logo though...

How thoughtful! There are places Vancouver that would probably allow it but may charge a corking fee. Not sure about Portland though.

Heathen in Vancouver is making a few sour/wild ales. Not near as pucker inducting as Cascade. Don't let the tiki man throw you off, the beers I've had from them are really damn good.

If you're going to Belmont, throw in a Horse Brass trip for a pint and a scotch egg! It's like 2 minutes from Belmont.

Pretty fun weekend in Portland. Friday, we went to Hair of the Dog, The Commons, Cascade, Burnside and Base Camp. I think I liked Base Camp the most from an interior standpoint and Cascade the most in terms of their beers.

Saturday we did the blazers game and had a few 10 barrel beers on tap. I can't remember which ones. Both were IPAs and really good.

Sunday we did APEX and BeerMongers and picked up some brews to take back to Chicago. Pretty cool city you guys have there.

PS: Best meals we had were brunches: Tasty and Alder & Screen Door. Different styles but both amazing.

You didn't pre-game at Upright brewing, rookie mistake  Otherwise sounds like a great trip!

If you share with me, I wont charge a corking fee, but you might have to drink something good I have hidden in the back too....

Anybody know of a nice hotel (not motel 6) in the Portland area that has parking for an suv with trailer?
Preferably near a good beer destination for dinner.
The wife and I were thinking about staying in that area tomorrow instead of driving all the way back to Seattle. Heading down to Corvalis from Seattle in the morning.
    Thanks!

Your best bet would probably be something near the airport. From there, you'd only be 10-15 minutes away from a lot of options, the closest being probably Breakside or Roscoe's.

I was going to make the same recommendation, but in all honesty, I've never seen any large SUV's parked out at the Red Lion, the Sheraton or Embassy Suites (Embassy has a particularly large parking lot, so you would think they'd be your best bet). Another possibility would be one of the McMeniman's (Kennedy School, Edgefield, etc.), as I think I do recalling seeing SUV's parked in the back of the lot at those places. However, it's been some years since I stayed at Kennedy School, and I'm just not sure about Edgefield (though they have a pretty ji-normous lot in the back on the right now, so maybe).

If you can find a spot near the airport, then you would be no more than a 10 minute drive to the NE 33rd Ave area, with Concordia Alehouse and Kennedy School. From there you would also be pretty close to Saraveza, Hop & Vine, Grain & Gristle, etc. (if you go to the G&G, you can even grab an order of Pok Pok Vietnamese fish wings next door as an appetizer!).

    Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions! I was checking out the Kennedy School. The tough part is finding pull through spots. Otherwise, I have to unhook and jockey shit around. I will check out the embassy suites too.
I might just cross my fingers that we hit Portland early enough to grab lunch there and skeedattle.
I was thinking about Breakside anyway.

Is there an area in Portland that would be particularly convenient (possibly walking distance) to breweries/taprooms/brewpubs. Nearby hotels?
