I'll be visiting Santa Fe and Taos over New Years (from Denver). Can anyone recommend a good beer bar or bottle shop? Also, so I can prepare, what breweries distribute in New Mexico? I know a lot of Colorado breweries distribute there but other than that I'm clueless.

No beer spots in Taos. "Taos pizza outback" Is a funky spot with a better than bad tap line up from time to time. In Santa Fe, stop at the marble tap room and go to Susan's fine wine and spirits. The manager Michael is awesome.

Distro in NM sucks, not much here you don't get in CO. Pick up a case of elevated 16ozers.

Thanks Beerandboards. I was definitely planning on picking up a bunch of Elevated, I hear it's fantastic.

Santa Fe has Santa Fe Brewery, 2nd Street Brewery, and other places/pubs that brew beer. The Marble Brewing taproom on Plaza is nice. Try the Marble Red. Second Street Brewery had decent food and some very nice beers.

Bumping this since I'll be in Taos in late March. I was wondering, specifically, what my odds are of being able to buy cans / bottles of La Cumbre's Elevated & Project Dank or Marble's Double IPA & BA Imperial Stout. I imagine the best option would be to hit the tap rooms on my way from ABQ to Taos but I'm getting in late at night - 11 pm - and driving right out to Taos.

If stores are out of the option in Taos, hit me up with a direct message if you'd be willing to hook up a fellow BA who'd be willing to compensate you for your trouble.

Timing will be the big issue. Both Marble and La Cumbre taprooms seem to stay open as late as business dictates/how the staff feels (Marble does specifically say midnight). You have a better chance if its a Friday or Saturday night that you are coming in.

Visit La Cumbre's website. They list some grocery stores/gas stations that carry their products. Taos and SF are listed. Dank and the other Marble bombers appear to more of a specialty product, where you'd find them at a true liquor store. I know one gas station listed has elevated cans, but not Dank. Whole Foods has Dank, Elevated, and some Marble bombers.. It just really depends on the store. Package liquor sales end at midnight, so there may be a place still open at 11pm.

Most of the liquor stores in the ABQ area close anywhere from 8pm to 10pm. I have seen all of what you asked just sitting on the shelves at various stores. Kelly Liquors, Jubilation, and Total Wine would be the places I would check during normal operating hours.

As far as the Taos area. I have heard of a few breweries that have popped up.. Blue Heron just before Taos. Eskes Brewpub, Taos Ale House, and Taos Mesa brewing in Taos, and Comanche Creek just north of Taos. I have been to none of those so no personal recommendations. But likely worth a try.

.. In Santa Fe, Blue Corn is doing some great things (GABF winners for a few beers). Duel is the new place in town... Marble's taproom has moved, and plans seem to indicate a March opening. So be weary of Marble in SF not being open.

Be careful with the La Cumbre website about what places carry it. I found while visiting Las Cruces that only one of the listed had it in stock, and it was right at a month old. ABQ was the best place to not just find it, but find it fresh.

The best bottle shop I would is Kokomans Fine Wines just 30 minutes NW of town. I found BCBCS on the shelves there over NYE. +1 for Blue Corn, they make a great Oatmeal Stout.
