Visiting Seattle (Winter 2015 Update)

Heading to on Monday, greatly appreciate this. Also does Bambinos allow bottles to go?

 

Hi folks - I'm going to be in Seattle this weekend. Are there any particular seasons currently generally available (I'll likely be stopping at the northern Chucks on my way into town from Vancouver) that you'd recommend picking up? I'm pretty much exclusively looking for stouts, but would be happy with IPA recommendations as well. I know a lot of the big names in the style, but looking for a bit of guidance around what's likely to actually still be on shelves.

 

You should still be able to snag some Coffee Cinnamon Bbomb.

 

I haven't been in lately, but it might be worth stopping at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham on your way down. You'll likely pay a premium, but sometimes beers hang around because ES tends to be on the high side for Bellingham.

i'm not sure. last time i was there, it was a weird place. has anyone been lately?

should have the masonry on the list, as well. it's a beer-centric pizza shop, and i believe they do bottles-to-go.

 

I'm doing the research. But off the top of anyones head, any of these bottle shops close to a transit stop from SeaTac? Figure I might just take that up a ways to a bottleshop, then get a taxi/uber to Bellevue. Looks like Full Throttle is fairly close to the Beacon Hill stop. Would that be the best bet?

 

that's not a walk i would do. pretty far.

i would just get off at the last stop (westlake), and either go to whole foods-west lake or pear market.

 

Full Throttle is a pretty long ways from the Beacon Hill stop. The most convenient would be Chucks CD, getting off at University street and then grabbing a cab up the hill (also the 2 bus goes right there). Or there is Pear Delicatessen in Pikes Place that has good selection.

 

I'm fine doing a cab/uber from the rail to a shop too. Having to go to Bellevue afterwards just thinking of a way to route this.

 

If you're going to Bellevue, just hit up Malt and Vine on the Eastside.

 

I think this is what I am going to do now, and might take a cab to Mammoth afterwards. Hotel shuttle might be able to take me Whole Foods in Bellevue too. .5 mile out of their 5 mile range.

Malt and Vine & Black Raven would be a good combo. As much as I hate the Eastide and love Seattle, trying to get back into Seattle when staying on the Eastside without your own car is not recommended.

 

there's a total wine near that whole foods as well.

Has anyone been to Bambino's lately? I visited about a year ago and remember good pizza and a great tap list (Boneyard, Dark Star), but a Seattle friend said he heard it has gone to hell of late, new owners or something.

 

Question: Do Reuben's and Fremont sell their bottles from their taprooms as well? I looked and I couldn't find an answer. I know in Portland it can be hit and miss at the actual taproom (and sometimes even more expensive) when it comes to bottle selection versus what I can find at a bottle shop. I'm assuming the same is true in Seattle?

 

In all likeliness Reuben's will be selling all available bottles - anything that was at a store but not the brewery is likely old, and not in a good way. Fremont will have plenty of its staples but none of the barrel aged stuff, which is still lingering in some stores

 

Fremont should also have Sour Weisse bombers, something I've never seen for sale anywhere else.

Isn't that all of them? Except maybe the strippers, er I mean cheerleaders. I was a Michigan fan as a teenager, so I still don't really like OSU. But, I had to pull for them the other night, as I truly everything Nike, including their college.

 

I haven't really been a UM fan for a long time now, but I kinda like Harbaugh, so maybe I'll pick 'em back up. And yes, I like Beavers very much, thank you!
