Waxing corked and caged beers?

    I've recently gotten into cellaring beer and I was wondering if I take corked and caged beers and wax the tops myself to protect the cork/beer from drying out since my basement is on the dry side. Other than making the beers a little hard to open would there be any real downside to doing this?
