Westbend vineyard in Lewisville, NC opened a brewhouse. Anybody tried any of their brews yet? Just curious what they had and how they are.

Right now WB has our normal line up of English, Pale Ale, IPA and Stout as well as a Hefe style Wheat and our new seasonal Winter Ale. So far we've had a great response the beer! Come out to the vineyard / brewery and give them a try!

I've had a couple growlers of the IPA. It is fresh and good. Not amazing but the bartender asked what I would like to see next. I said a double or a black IPA and she said she would tell the brewers. Hope to see one soon! The venue is small, quiet, and very nice.

Thinking about visiting while I am in W-S for the holidays, is it worth it? Anything special happening around the holidays at the brewery or limited hours?

It's a beautiful vineyard. That I can tell you. But I haven't been there in a few years. I'm going to have to plan a trip out there now since they started brewing.

Winston is small but it's a cool town. There's a great arts district that has concerts in the summer, a ton of good places to eat, and of course two great breweries. You can make quite a day of it between Foothills and Westbend for beer.. then maybe hitting a few other wineries in the Yadkin valley (though of course you'd need a driver after all the sampling!)

These guys are closing the tasting room on March 2nd. If you're in the area, check them out before they shut down. They'll be opening a new tasting room in downtown Winston just down from Foothills.

I stopped by there recently and had some really good brews. Their Golden ale was very nice and crisp but the highlight for me was the Champale. This was their pale ale brewed with champagne yeast. Just a refreshing fruity taste with a nice hoppy finish. Their Brown ale was also a highlight. Jamie and his staff make some good brews here. Check them out if you can.
