They are supposed to MSRP when they finally are distributed here at $85, they charge $40 a bottle on there for a single bottle, so $240 for 6 bottles so a little more then what the glasses are worth.

They will hit the US market though, why not just wait? Even if you can't get one, I'm sure you can get one from a third party for way less than $320... maybe.

They are coming to the US in June, I believe. It's time to make friends with the crew at your go-to shop [ if you haven't already done so] so there's a pack reserved when it hits.

This doesn't bode well for what retailers will charge here. It's too bad because this money should be going to the abbey.

That's a good point, kinda sad as well. I've spoken with a few shop managers in my town who've told me that they expect to sell it for $85. I'll keep my fingers crossed and my hopes in check.

This is a crime when you ask that much for a brick. I was lucky enough to buy 28 bricks at the abbey of Westvleteren in december 2011 and i sold and shipped the bricks for about 80/85 dollar a piece. I hope no one will be that stupid to pay this 'beersite' that much for a brick. I say 'ban this site forever'............

I will forward this page to brother Michael. Not that he can do something about it though!

Which is exactly why I'll not be buying one.

I've already set my limit to $100. Any more than that and I am out. That is if the place I put my name on "the list" pans out.

Holy moley. That is some ridiculous margin. Profiteering it may be but it tastes more like racketeering to me.
    Shame.

$320 is pretty close to a one way ticket if you find the right deal ...

I can't believe they're trying to charge that much. We're going to be swimming in bricks soon...

That is just gross. I would buy bottles of Westy 12 from stores when I lived in Belgium for 7 euros, tops. Best bet is to find someone who lives in Belgium to buy them and ship them to you. Might sound hard but it really isn't. The stores are a rip off, and even the suggested MSRP for the bricks when they hit the US is ridiculous IMO.

I have no idea how hard they'll be to obtain at retail, though I predict the price tag will keep many people away. Ultimately I think it probably depends on how equitably they get distributed. Some markets will likely be flooded and some will get shortchanged. $100 is a lot, particularly for those of us that have had the beer before - it's just not worth that much.

However, I predict trading for them will be easy. A lot of people probably just want 2-3 bottles and/or want to recoup a significant chunk of their cost. At 30,000 bricks, we might easily see 50K bottles in the trading market.
