They posted news of this brew on heir Facebook page today. Imperial stout brewed with coffee and aged in whiskey barrels. To be expected sometime in the spring. Is anyone excited about this one?

Been waiting for an actual release date! This should be pretty damn tasty too!

Wasn't aware of this but Weyerbacher makes some great stuff, and I'm always down for a complex stout. Sounds like good timing too since Breakfast Stout will have disappeared for the season.

It was released last year, but only on tap and very limited. Glad to hear that it'll be bottled. "Tiny" + coffee + bourbon barrels? Sign me up!

In my opinion, Weyerbacher is mediocre. Heresy is barely average as far as BA stouts go. Coffee might kick it up a notch, but I sincerely doubt this will stand up to the exemplars of the style. It seems that they're way behind this trend, as well.

I'm guessing it'll be something like a coffee version of Heresy.

Beers like Heresy, Insanity, and Blasphemy may not win any medals these days, but their availability, affordability, and consistency do make them a dependable line-up of barrel aged beers.

I can agree with that. They do a few beers very well but most are in the average bracket for me. Heresy is not all-too terrible, but is terribly thin for the style. I am more excited about a local place doing this style. I enjoy Riserva, Insanity, and Blasphemy so hopefully this winds up as another above average offering from a local place.

Weyerbacher's best beer, IMHO, was Slam Dunkel many years ago. They should consider bringing that one back.

That could be tasty. Tiny is a great beer.

Double Simcoe was ahead of the curve; being the first to actually employ this, at the time "new" hop. At my visit a couple of weeks ago with @jzeilinger and in talking to their National Sales Mgr. they know they need to start branching out, since Simcoe is now, somewhat, considered an old hop.

Sometimes it's hard to break old habits and traditions; hopefully with their recent expansion they will start changing and experimenting even more...which I think is the plan. Their Brewer's Select Series has had quite a few winners that they should seriously consider putting into their year round offerings.

Truth is, Weyerbacher has been a quiet pioneer in barrel aged beers, period! Their standard offerings have varied while their experimentation has always cut new ground. Old Heathen is truly under-respected.
