    I'll second GLBC Conway's Irish
And I'll add my favorite red, FFF Brian Boru. I had it for the first time a couple weeks ago, and I think it is a really phenomenal beer for the style.

    Smithwicks
    Kilkenny
    Great Lakes Conway Irish Ale

Old Dominion, years ago, before they were owned by Fordham, used to brew an amber ale ale called the Dubliner, which was outstanding. I wish they still brewed it.

Glad this thread popped up - I'll be brewing up an Irish Red Ale this upcoming weekend. I usually have a Guiness Foreign Extra for this holiday while enjoying some corned beef and cabbage. Pretty stoked for March and spring to be right around the corner.

Irish beers were my gateway beers into the craft/import world. I have always held a special place in my heart for them. However, after having so many complex beers over the last few years those beers really don't do it for me so much anymore. Still. I will as I always do have some Irish beers on St. Pats.

Kilkenny (If I can find it)
    Smithwicks
    Murphy's
    Guinness
Beamish (Once again if I can find it, it used to be found everywhere and I have not seen it in a while, but it was the best of the three big Irish stouts)

But I always have a dram or two of some good Irish whiskey which I enjoy more now than the beers of Ireland. I have a few options there (always do!)

When I had access to this beer living in NC, Highland Gaelic Ale was my go to.

I've always found the dichotomy of Ireland being so evocative of the idea of beer, yet having such a profound uniformity, peculiar. It's not Ireland and beer, it's Ireland and Guinness.

That being said, a pint o' Guinness is always welcome. A pint of Smithwick's is even more appreciated. I like Killian's. I also enjoy Brooklyn's Dry Irish Stout.

Gunna keep an eye out for as many Irish style/red ales as I can over the next few weeks.

For those that are brewing their own red ale, I salute ya, mate. Wish I thought to do so.

Short's Uncle Steve's Irish Stout has always been a beer that sticks out to me during the middle of March.

Man, Smithwick's used to be it for me! Thought it was awesome to get some of that back in college. I haven't had one in years!

Man I used to drink a ton of Killians Irish Red back in the day. Reading this thread makes me realize I need to seek some of these brews out.
