    I had my first Heady Topper recently so I can finally compare to Pliny the Elder. Both are excellent, excellent beers, but in my humble opinion Pliny is the superior IPA. I sure as heck wouldn't turn down either of them though and I realize it's a matter of personal taste.

    Well I had dogfishhead's version last year and decided at that time that the saison was the perfect table beer. I like victory's version better. It's not as haavy on the herbs. It has a cheeky light lemon backing that preserves the saison fruitness. It has a good dry malt that has a touch of sticky depth. Those herbs do end up in the finish like a marreid soup base flavor. It's light enough though to not dissuade you from the beer . This version is crushable meaning I could have more than one in one sitting. I think it will stand up to my german potato salad with vinegar in it! Next year I want the stone version. =) Cheers BA!
