My little brother joined BA the day I turned 21 Cheers!
As if living in Florida wasn't great enough already! So frickin good!
Getting a little wild
Well then he's welcome in my book.
Getting a late start....SN Celebration 2012 now...also have NB Abbey, BCBS and Schlafly Irish Style Extra Stout to pick from for the next one! Cheers!
I really enjoyed this on draft, and bought a few bottles.
Very nice brew.
Pipeworks Unicorn Galaxy, happy Friday!
Love this stout!
Having another Sucks while I prepare the Super Bowl ribs I'm smoking tomorrow.
I had it for the first time tonight and it is one of the better beers that I have had, and it seems to get better with each drink.
The evening continues...and I'm enjoying this evening like it was 2010.
I just knocked out a homebrew mesquite porter and a Southern Star Le Mort Viviant.
Not a fan of resin but I love that beer!
Central Waters Ouisconsing Red Ale
Denogginizer from the Kegerator
Listening to one of my old faves
First time trying this new offering from Brau Brothers. Tasty little number, I must say...
Drinking a bottle of Stone's Smoked Porter w/ Vanilla Beans now. To be honest I thought it would be a lot sweeter and that the vanilla would be kind of heavy-handed, but that's not my impression. It's decent.
To be honest though, porters aren't usually my thing . . . I've had Eddy Fitz a few times and it's always good, but if I want something dark I usually want it to be gigantic and black hole-ish, like Founders IS. The exception, though, is HF Everett. That is an unbelievably delicious porter, and this coming from a guy who's usually not into the style.
Just cracked this baby, getting my funk on...
Closing out this great Friday night with a winter brew from my favorite brewery of all time:
I'm looking forward to march second where I'll meet in person a great advocate... mr cfrance in person in Vermont. Cheers!
Chase's second review - Ivan the Great
Dang it Fran, I have the worst timing... You need to try the porter from the aforementioned brewery that I am drinking now! If only alto cinco was that close to north syracuse... We could meet up. Cheers!
As do I!
Nightcaps and last raps.
Are you guys celebrating his 18th birthday in style?
Went with the Schlafly Irish Style Extra Stout for round 2...decided BCBS may be a little too much octane for tonight....hahaha....
He's almost 20! I'm trying to prep him for the real world (BA world).
Alternating between Bell's Two Hearted and Surly Abrasive.
Good beer night.
If anyone can train him up right, I sure YOU can! Do it up!
Doin' a Red thang. Sam Adams, Boulevard and Dundee. These are really great beers. I like the way they look, and I like the way they taste. Might change my name to kingofred.
Bah! You've got some Everett? Shit, man. Well the snow we've had today makes driving very far kinda dicey, anyway.
Evidently, I've enjoyed the Smoked Porter w/ Vanilla well enough, but it's not a repeat buy in my book. Everett, however, I'd probably get again, if I had the money and wasn't jonesing so hard for whatever they've got on tap or in bottles that's hoppy or farmhouse-y.
Coming down to Alto anytime soon? It's like two or three blocks from my house.
Edit: oh and I'm really excited to try some 3Beans. Sounds great, Jeremy said it's fantastic.
So I ignored advice about not aging FBS. Just had to see for myself. The one on the left is 9/12/11 and the one on the right is 9/4/12. The 2011 brew--slight overripe fruit aroma (and not in a good way) and an astringent flavor, or maybe the coffee had dropped out so much that the other flavors became harsh. The harshness did even out as the beer warmed and opened up. The 2012 brew--much better, but even with 4 months on it, the coffee has dropped off.
So I've found conventional wisdom to be correct. Both still pretty good beers, but this one is best consumed fresh. Like I said, just had to find out for myself.
I have 2 or 3 KBSs from 2011. Anyone know if those hold up better?
On another note, I gave up coffee about two years ago, and I'm kind of wired from these two FBSs. I'm going to be up half the night watching C-SPAN or some shit!
finishing off the night with this delicious dessert.. You know you want this!
Continuing last night's growler of Terrapin Hopsecutioner.
So happy we got distro to PA this year. Can't wait to see how this ages. Any idea when it tends to hit its peak?
