Galaxy kicked before I got the chance. IPA up next.

Also lucky enough to have grabbed a few cans for the trip home.

Very nice session White IPA, grabbed another single this week. Flavors of lemon, tangerine, orange peel, pear, apple, light banana, pepper, clove, wheat, and cracker; with herbal/grassy hop and yeast earthiness. Good amount of herbal bitterness and peppery yeast spice on the finish; with a smooth and crisp finish with a good amount of hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Very flavorful, hoppy, and smooth. I will be getting more while it’s still around.

I re-reviewed this earlier this week after not having for over 4 years, and this is officially my top go-to porter, for an English style. My 4 year ago self was not nearly as impressed, but I love English styled stuff now so that pretty much explains everything. Big robust and complex flavors of milk chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, and light nuttiness; with restrained plum/apple English yeast fruitiness and light-moderate herbal hops. Balanced herbal/roast bitter finish with a great creamy/silky mouthfeel. Just an all around incredible beer, it literally has everything I love about English styled porters with toasty malt profile and added restrained yeast complexity. I made a brown porter a few months ago which sort of reminds me of this, but I used a lot of dark munich which is not present in this one at all. Glad it’s finally here in 6 packs, it will be in my rotation often.

This year’s version is outstanding, but I still felt similarly about last year’s release even though the overall ratings do not reflect that opinion. Flavors of honey, toasted biscuit, and light nutty malts; with balanced herbal, grassy, light peppery hop flavors. Super clean and robust malt flavors with balanced bitterness. This one is of the paler variety of the style vs last year’s version; but still provides all of the spot on expectation and malt complexity for the style that I would expect. This is right on point with my other favorites in the style, so I will definitely be buying more than 1 pack of it.

Fresh pack bought recently, only 2 months old or so now. Super bright lemon zest, tangerine, orange peel, pineapple, peach, mango, and pine/grassy hops, with light honey/bready malt presence. Balanced pine/citrus peel bitter finish. Super smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel; extremely easy drinking for the ABV. Still as incredible as I remember it in my initial reviewing as long as it's really fresh. I usually always buy this and Hopdevil when I see either of them super fresh.

    Cheers!

Hey BA's! Almost noon here in actually-very-nice NOVA & I figured I'd complete my little trilogy before 12:

Avery BA Sour #3 - so, Tectum, Insula & now Fortuna. The Big Turtle approves. :-)

Tunes...I'm always hesitant to post John Frusciante's solo stuff, since at best it's 'interesting' & at worst it's...the worst. But this one here is the River Phoenix collab & River's part during the 1st half is actually quite moving (at least to me)

    Enjoy! :-)

As always- Drink up & drink on, my fellow advocates!

    Aroma:
Wow...this actually smells exactly like a Old Style that was left sitting out overnight. Macro lager corn aroma is nailed. It probably smells like this in the men's room at Wrigley Field.
    2.5

    Taste:
It does taste like Old Style. I haven't had one in probably 15 years and actually want to track one down to compare. Corn and macro lager flavor is fairly spot on.

Does it say anything about some of the weird stuff we drink that I thought for half a second this was actually a beer :astonished::rolling_eyes::flushed:?!?

    Well done, my friend!

And yes, I knew of the Jelly Belly flavor (but not the packaging). To my point though, one of the beers at Adroit Theory I had last week actually mentioned in its description "Jelly Belly" (a candy-sweet fruity Belgian, I believe, that was brewed with a "cult member").
