    Good afternoon BAs,

Taking the bro in law to the airport this afternoon but first we feast and drink. Big Bad Baptist will leave him well lubricated for his upcoming 12 hour flight. This is the Cafe Ibis version and it is delicious like all the others.

    Cheers BAs

I have always been a fan of King. The shining is my favorite of his. No movie has ever done this story any justice.

Hi everybody. Day 6 of working the past week. I think I'll soon be working 7 days a week. That leaves a little time for beer and working out and band stuff....

Anyways here's my start to the day :

Pours a beautiful blonde color with 10% haze and 90% transparency. The head is absolutely gorgeous, starting off at 4 fingers and slowly receding to 2. Mountainous root beer float-like intensity tops the head, and leaves artistry behind in lace. Five.

Traditional stale damp grain and dry corn permeate the aroma, but a subtle breadiness also sits behind it giving it a yeasty pop to the nose. Some slight grainy fruity esters (fruity pebbles) also surface as it warms a bit.

Bread comes out first in the flavor, followed by some straight alcohol; then grainy flavors surface - namely corn, straw, and hay. Hop bite follows shortly after but immediately compromises for a bready finish. The only fatal flaw of this flavor profile is that when it warms a bit, the delicious flavors go away and a huge presence of stale grain and fusel alcohol surface. So much like any other pilsner or lager, drink it ice cold for best results.

Huge creaminess in the body that accentuates when warming up, with a mild buzz underneath propping it up for good measure. The finish is simple and semi-dry, inviting you in for another sip.

Overall, Oskar Blues' Mama is pretty standout for a Czech style Pilsner. I'd have it again, and remind myself to drink it ice cold like a Miller Lite or other beer that devolves as it warms. Ice cold, you're gold! Just remember that when you grab this golden can of fizzy freshness from your local beer cove. Prosit!

    A very tasty pilsner!

SN makes the best pre work /lunchtime beers. Not too high abv, but just about as complex as a good 9%-10% DIPA

Finally got around to trying it and wasn't very impressed.

Pours a copper blonde color, with a delicate fluffy, rocky head of 3 fingers. Head retention is good and lace is sparse.

Huge aroma of baked yams with brown sugar, honey, white pepper. Followed by yeast, clove, coriander, and allspice. A bit of caramel candy in there too. Very funky, somewhat chemical. Not totally sold on the smell here.

Very thin and chemical, with a rush of stiff pumpkin spices and nutmeg. It's basically pumpkin spiced light malt liquor. There's not much more to say about it. After a few sips I get used to it, but that's not necessarily a good thing.

Feel is thin and moderately carbonated, and develops a bit of creaminess towards the finish.

Overall Pumpkin Batch is not a good beer at all. I'll gladly pass on it next year.

No one tells a story like Gardner. He's also a home town boy form right around here. His books are all local lore and folks. This one is about a battle of wills. Happy Booknotes and Beers!

Had some of this with my chili and then it inspired an improvised cake! I really like this beer! Cheers!
