A nice Virginia coffee stout to enjoy in the AM. I'd say better than the one I am having (though this one is good, too - I just like Hardywood's Sidamo better):

Brothers Craft Smooth Sailor - a regular stout first, coffee and vanilla second. Nice way to start the weekend. Cheers, all!

Today is our annual fantasy football draft that we've held since we were high school freshman in 2001. I host and grill a bunch of chicken and open a lot of fun stuff so let the games begin!

Both of these are OUT OF THIS WORLD

I do try, but i suck at reporting in live time since I'm usually a social drinker - last night: SNPA, and an Odell IPA. At a big work function, 70 degrees, fantastic blue skies, with new friends. View of Pikes Peak. How does it get better? Not sure... cheers all. I'll try to do better this week about the live reporting.

What can I say, it followed me home . . .

Appearance is of deep golden amber with bountiful white cap and good lacing.

Aroma is malt foremost, caramel, toffee malt in the sweet sense without hop sharpness.

Flavor is full on malt with depth and richness. This is full flavored and it's good flavor. I get little hop presence on entry, mid palate, or in the finish which is clean and short. Hops are there but too shy to give more than a glimpse of their presence. There is a residual darker malt sweetness (molasses?) in the aftertaste that doesn't linger very long.

Texture is medium to full depending on your perspective.

Overall this is a very flavorful beer packed with malt sensations that range from light to rich to dark with an underlying sweetness that isn't really there, just the sense of it due to the lack of hop sharpness to moderate the full on malt flavor. All malt flavor, like all hop flavor, can leave a brew with a feeling of one noteness though this one does bring some complexity to the table. Not of sustaining interest to the beer enthusiast perhaps but a good one for general consumers.

Brooklyn: Summer Ale, not particularly suited to the weather considering the afternoon of Horse Racing I had planned has been rained off, but tasty all the same.

Getting in some early morning "fruit"

I wish these didn't give me such heartburn, I'd drink this all summer.

Also, Off Color has the best berliner weisse brewed in Chicago in my opinion. Somehow the addition of yuzu in this variant just makes it that much better. Perfectly tart, and the citrus is so refreshing.

Catching some Premier league with the little guy ... But more importantly was very happy with Die Bayern's performance against Werder Bremen yesterday - great start to the new year.

Good morning, BAs! I'm really getting to like a nice coffee stout in the morning.

Motor Mouth Coffee Stout from Farmington Brewing Co in Farmington, MI. 6.3% and full of roasty cocoa goodness.
Gonna go well with brunch: homemade breakfast burritos and biscuits and gravy. Pretty sure this is the only meal I'm having today.
