Canned on 8/23/16, yes very well!
Southern Tier Choklat Stout, 10% ABV, 65 IBU. Pours thick and black, with 2+ fingers of tan head, decent lacing. Nose is malt and chocolate. Taste is milk, chocolate, and a strong coffee bitter close, a bit tangy. Like their Creme Brulee, I find it overcarbonated which detracts from mouthfeel. Overall just OK, prefer Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout, but like the Sam Smith I pick up some mineral bitterness.
Bought the fall sampler pack this week, cheers
Found my first Weistephaner fest beer. Buried 3 deep behind another Fest beer, on a palate in no mans land in Total Wine. Wtf. Their beer is not layed out on prime time drive aisles, nor by seasonal, nor in a cooler. They have their Fest beers spread all over the damn store. Who thinks this shit up, it should be readily visible, it's displayed like they're hiding the stuff, not kidding here.
Oh, and it's chilling.
Day 3 of my staycation and I felt like having one if these. And it's one if those fantastically solid beers that I tend to forget about and every time I do have it again I end up kicking myself for not buying it more. In fact, I do that with a lot of amazing porters. So...
Left Hand Black Jack Porter
I'm gonna be revisiting you guys soon, don't worry.
A little glass of beer after a long day
Just a few minutes ago my wife informed me she paid the neighbor's cable bill. Like a good husband, I was only half listening and certain I misunderstood so I asked, “Come again?"
“I paid the neighbors cable bill” she repeated.
“Out of charity” I replied, with no small amount of sarcasm.
“No, I wasn’t paying attention” she said.
I paused for a full 15 seconds to gather myself, albeit not very successfully, before inquiring as to why she didn’t pay attention to the name on the bill. I didn’t get a satisfactory response so I pressed on further and asked whether their bill total matched ours.
“No” she said rather stridently, “it was much lower.”
“And that didn’t trigger any flags” I asked. This time with a full complement of sarcasm and some incredulity tossed in for good measure.
I’ll spare you the rest of the insanity, because I need a %$#! beer like yesterday. Wifey? She’s across the street introducing herself to the “new” neighbors, who have no doubt pegged her as a kook. Me? I’m consulting the Oracle to determine how soon I can move her into the assisted living facility.
...cheers BAs! xoxo!!
Another, on our balcony:
Cheers from Saint Petersburg, FL.
One last Puff then I'm out. Literally.
I wish this was fresher. It's really good, but it's got some whiskers on it. Freshly shaven, I think this would be world-class.
Mystery solved. Thanks, you SOB! I was saving that shit for the completion party!
How is that? I keep passing on it.
I'll be at Ducks on Thursday.. Save some for me!!
Just had a Headbutt at Iron Goat, served up by lovely Rita, beer maid.
Maybe for pretty boys like you. Schlitz tall Bulls and Olde English 800's were top of the line for us street urchins looking for a quick buzz with what we could find in the couch cushions.
Evening project review with Everett,
Chocolate malt forward, robust to say the least.
I really enjoyed that offering as well.
Damn Tuesday pretending to be a Monday. I deserve a KBS....ok maybe not deserve but i have one so here we go. Cheers all.
Sold! I was going to buy it today but I did not. My next beer trip, it will be on my list. Too many good comments about it for me to not give it a go.
Surly's Octoberfest beer. Cheers!
Finally, I am giving my strings tied with summer up and jumping on the Oktoberfest bandwagon.
Trying the Ayinger Oktoberfest Marzen for the first time.
What a well done brew.
Amber, caramel and malt flavor with mild spice. Nice white head and carbonation that keeps it going for a while. Crisp clean body and mouthfeel.
Average I think, flavors are almost DIPA like to me. Not something I'll buy again.
Haven't seen that particular Big Sky beer around here. How is it?
You were there too!
I love Nelson Sauvin hops. Never tried them in a saison though. I bet that must be delicious.
Never been called a pretty boy but hey it is a compliment even though my female friends would say they wish it were true.
Beer of choice in high school was Slitz, Shafer (sp?), Ballentine, Pabst, and Smidts (sp?). Smoke of choice was ......
In college (PA), it was Stegmaier and Yuengling. Smoke of choice was.......
It took me to the age of fifties to be a beer snob. So now it is what it is.
I enjoy the conversation. Thanks my friend.
Stopped by the local shop on the way home after a long day for a few...
Abita Bourbon Street Mint Julep
And home now with some Good People Snakehandler
Well... this was a surprise.
I bought a six pack of this today. I did not check the bottling date. Should a four month old IPA be on the shelf? I have no idea.
drinking on fleek while listening to gucci?
I hear ya. So what is so different than most of us who have been married forever (my case 42 years).
#2, my go-to "after a big hoppy beer" beer. Love this. Have a tantalizing Tuesday, BA's.
