Seitan with mashed potatoes, spinach, capers, and mushroom gravy. My interpretation of an entrée from Revolution Kitchen in Burlington, VT.

Basement is a great IPA. You need to try Scofflaw Hooligan as well.

Well, duck IS pretty tasty. Freeze my ass off in an aluminum boat or pick up a duck at the local grocery - tough choice! Wonder what swan tastes like?

I didn't find any of this this year - wasn't at the distributor the day it came in.

Good late morning BAs! Thanks to everybody on 1547 - we almost make 20! This morning's post is a cross post with NBS:

Good morning, BAs! I'm pre-gaming brunch with a sessionable imperial coffee stout. Don't believe me? It's right there on the label:

My thoughts on this new-to-me brew are captured over on New Beer Sunday. If you're having something for the first time, and you'd like to share a few thoughts, come on over and join us!

    Cheers!

Starting off my day with something new... (to me, that is)
Finback IPA... (I'll post my thoughts over in NBS once I'm done)

Games last night were kinda meh... Houston showed some grit, NE showed some vulnerability, Seattle showed they have a terrible offensive line, and Atlanta showed they have a great offense. *Yawn* ...Didn't we know all of that already?

Had this Hop Stoopid with the second half of the late game, but was too tired to post...
Also failed to mention that Geoff Tate turned 57 yesterday... I'm not a huge Queensryche fan, but this album was always a huge fave and I'm listening to it now...

Of course, Operation Mindcrime was also incredible, but Warning really spoke to me. The rest of their catalog never really held my attention, so I'll leave it at that...

Today I've got a football-related birthday to cite: Marty Lyons (60), formerly of the Jets...
From left to right, Joe Klecko, Marty Lyons, Abdul Salaam, and Mark Gastineau

It was, in fact, the play of Lyons and the rest of the New York Sack Exchange during the early 80's, as well as quarterback Richard Todd slamming Steve Serby into a locker, that attracted me to the Jets back then - previously, I was exclusively a Steeler fan. The Jets actually had 3 playoff appearances in their time, but obviously, never went to the Super Bowl...

Stay with me Jets fans (*crickets and snickers*), as I drop some props on a widely unheralded player who came onto the team during Lyons' tenure, and stayed well-beyond - and a personal favorite of mine at linebacker: Kyle Clifton, #59... He never got much press, but players and informed fans (or maybe just Jets fans ) knew he was one of helluva linebacker - no Hall of Fame in the cards for him, but he was a cornerstone in the defense for the better part of a decade.

    Cheers, folks... :sunglasses:

Second new beer this morning (with an admittedly aggressive pour) - Toppling Goliath's " XHops Gold":

Highs will only be in the High 70s today, as looks to be the case all this coming week. Time to pull the "blonder" beers from the 'fridge and drink up - cheers from St. Pete!

Bumpin' back a Marble IPA (ABQ, NM) from a 6 pack I bought at the brewery just Friday. Canned last week? I'll take it. Fresh, delicious, still huge and hoppy - one of the best on the scene. Maybe not quite Bosque or Cumbre, but very very good.
[Sidenote: While there this past week, I also got to try Bow and Arrow (brewing), new place downtown, which was interesting. Two Native women own the joint, and while the beer was more malty than I prefer, some of them were very well made (I like their brown ale). Check 'em out if you're in Albuquerque anytime soon.] CHEERS, watching *********s outside.
