    Light lunch with a golden brew . . .

    Score 3.79
    look: 3.5 | aroma: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Attractive clear, amber gold color with fine bead white cap and good lacing.

Aroma is less hop forward than I would've thought given the brewer's description. Some light floral and citrus with a pine hit. What's surprising though is the yeasty rye bread scent which is rather nice.

Taste is body forward if that makes any sense. Floral and citrus hop hit is even less than in the nose. Pine spikes up though like a tall fir right on the edge of treeline in a high altitude Alpine meadow. Malt (rye?) is apparent on entry and lasts all the way to the finish. It's in the finish and moreso in the aftertaste the hops emerge with a piney edge lingering in the aftertaste.

Full texture, or at least it feels that way. Somewhat creamy as well.

Overall it's a bit puzzling. A full bodied brew that doesn't taste particularly full, floral and citrus hops covered by some sort of shadow (that tall fir perhaps) and a promising rye presence that sorta stops at the finish. I know all this sounds negative which would be unfair to what is a well crafted brew. Just seems like it revs the engine loudly then moves off slowly. Cheeseburger brew but not really sharp enough for a bacon cheeseburger.

The morning rain stopped long enough to get in a quality run. It's beer time now! I'm really liking this West Coast Style DIPA from Hailstorm. The crew in Tinley Park continues to churn out some top notch brews. I'm going to relax on the patio for a bit and enjoy the 53 degree temperature before it returns to winter tomorrow. Cheers people!

Too much interesting beers in the fridge recently that I like to taste share with you. And next week I'm off to Belgium ...

This Hoptimista from Edge is real nice. American brewers working from Barcelona in Spain.
    Cheers!

Going coast to coast like @mschrei and jumping on a 'Cloud' now. Hailstorm is bringing it to page one today! This is a decent enough beer, but the heavy oat taste gives it too much of a cereal profile for me to make it top shelf.

Not as bodied as I was hoping for. Nothing special here.

    BAs!
My explorations of Susan. American IPA with Citra, Simcoe and Riwaka hops. This is so so good. Soft, balanced flavors of tropical fruits, grapefruits, piney bitterness to offset the other notes. Finishes slightly dry and making one want to dive again. Nothing is over the top, just right amount of balance.
    Love it. Cheers!

Another from Edge brewery. This Pure Decadence, a Russian Imperial Stout, is a collaboration brew with Lervig Aktiebryggeri from Norway.

Now onto the West Coast style, which seems to be one of the more popular beers here today.
