look: 3.75 | aroma: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Dark brown color with amber highlights, lotsa overflowing foam.

Aroma of dark roasted malt, expresso hints with a chocolaty background.

Taste is deep roasted malt with the same touches found in the aroma. Straight forward stuff with depth but little complexity. I mean, the flavors are there but haven't melded together. There is a pleasant hint of sweetness lingering in the aftertaste.

Texture is full.

Brown Ale, say what? Was the word Stout already taken over there in Yalobusha County? Whatever, they make it so they get the right to name it. The best I can say is except for the 6.4% it's pretty close to a Guinness which is an opinion shared by the resident Guinness fan who knows whereof he speaks.

 

Having an Orval, and taken the liberty to to combine my latest haul in this post. Picked it up last Saturday in Belgium.

I like to keep my Orval for some months to over a year. And this is a nice way of storing them. I had one years ago, but my wife returned it to the store when it was empty for refund ... Bit hard to find these Orval crates outside Belgium (and even in Belgium).

A good coating since it's been nonstop all morning, but nothing serious since the ground hasn't been that cold and it's in the low 30's here. You guys are going to get that lake effect stuff, which we in the farmlands out here don't have to worry about.

 

Day off today due to weekend work. Transient just kills the IPA style! This is a 2x IPA and delicious. Having this while gathering paperwork to get my taxes done later... I may need to have a few more of these...

Moving on and wishing for Spring

Purchased for $5.99 at Aldi because my home brew is still not ready at 14 days in the bottle. Let's pour one

11.2 oz bottle BB 12/15/17. Maybe the best $6/6pk beer I've tasted. BB date was plainly noted on top of the 6 pack holder. Nice color & lacing. Nice grassy, lemon sweet then dry taste. I like it!

Speaking of glassware, this brewery is owned by Bitburger. The picture on their website showing their product line in matching glassware is . Ironically, I see no way to buy any of it directly from them. Drink well daytime drinkers
