What beer are you drinking now? #1682

Good evening BA, hope everyone had a good holiday so far. Pretty nice day for weather, but some spotty storms just showed up. Was a long and busy day, got all caught up on my vehicle program status data and reports. Laundry got all sorted out, and I got some cardio in as usual. Sorry to see the weekend pass by so fast, but that just means the short week will be even better. I get double time hours for today, also.

Today's reviews:

This was pretty good. Really nice head retention and lacing down the glass. Aromas and flavors of lightly tart green apples, vanilla, cinnamon, toasted pie crust, and some herbal/grassy/peppery hops. Some English yeasty earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish. Light-medium bodied; balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hop/spice notes in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing bitter dryness; and light lingering hop/spice astringency. Not too bad, kind of candy like though. Very drinkable, 4.1%. They tried to make their English Bitter into a "flavored" fruit beer; so it was a little weird at first, but I got used to it. Was expecting a sweeter beer after the aromas. Caught me way off guard. 3.53


Great coffee porter! Aromas and flavors of big nutty dark roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark bread; with light notes of smoke, char, dark fruits, and herbal/floral hops. Light-moderate roast/char and herbal/floral hop bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied bready/grainy creaminess; with some chalky roast and sticky hops. Light-moderate increasing roast/char bitter dryness; no acrid/astringency. Coffee is insanely huge on this beer. Great well rounded malt complexity and hop balance. No complaints! 4


Excellent stuff. Aromas and flavors of big lightly tart lemon, lime, tangerine, grapefruit, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, citrus peel, and light pepper/pine hops; with wheat, cracker, light honeyed malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light pine/grassy/citrus peel bitterness and lemon tartness on the finish. Medium bodied; balanced bready/grainy wheat and sticky hops; with light lemon acidity in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter/tart dryness, with no hop astringency. 100% NE IPA, surprised no one in the reviews has even mentioned it yet. Huge yeast gunk cake on the can bottom, took 3 rinses to get it out of there. Super drinkable, great balance between lemon and fruity/tropical hops. Vibrant and a bit dank. 4


Bock. This is really nice. Got the expected Lagunitas hop character, but not too intense. Great head retention and lacing down the glass. Aromas and flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, mango, melon, citrus zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with balanced caramel, brown sugar, brown bread; and light nutty, toast, toffee malt sweetness. Some herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light pine/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied; bready/grainy creaminess and light hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter dryness. Very clean and easy drinking for 7.9%. Really well done slightly hoppy bock. Clean malt flavors with some fruity/citrusy hop balance. 3.9

My last of these...frankly wasn't even gonna take a pic because this IPA is 3 plus months old but it still looks damn good and still has that pineappłe shake thing going on that it was worth the post. Gotta say, well done LIC Beer Project @xenjoiii

 

Finally made a trek to VT with the family this holiday weekend. Lucked out with a beautiful weekend bookended by rainy travel days. Everybody enjoyed the weather, great outdoors, good food and amazing beer. Still getting over seeing epic beer after epic beer on tap lists.

Now enjoying something from my haul after a long rainy drive home.
