    My lunch choice for today is also something new to me . . .

    Score 3.77
    look: 4 | aroma: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

    Very attractive red color with light tan cap and lacing.

    Aroma of rich malt with a hit of maple and a touch of cocoa. Don't detect a hop presence.

    Flavor on entry is malt forward with maple in there but not obtrusively sweet. Some darker roast malts are in the mix and emerge as a mild cocoa bitterness in the finish and aftertaste.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

    I'm leaning toward thinking Sam Adams has a basic red ale recipe and these variations are just variations featuring something a bit different with each one. Not a bad idea if the basic ale recipe is solid and this one is.

    I've been neglecting Firestone hoppy beers for a long time and bought this one on a whim Saturday. It's a beautiful looking beer that tastes good and drinks lighter than the 8.2% abv. A welcome change of pace IPA palate reset from all the 'juice' bombs.

    We were at the beach pretty early today and got back just in time to miss an old fashioned summertime thunderstorm. Drinking a beer I brought from home. One of the best IPAs I've had all year. Cheers all.

    Drinking some black gold from Jackie O's. Thanks @ksurkin! Really nice habanero pepper heat with cinnamon, rich chocolate, vanilla, black walnuts, and oaky notes over a great imperial stout. Really liking this. Cheers!

    2 on the first page?? Papi Chulo IPA by Commonwealth. Really good. Papaya, mango, rindy...right bit of malt. Might have to bring some of these home.

    At last.. my semester from hell in the accelerated BSN nursing program is finished. 330 clinical hours and 21 hours of school credit somehow crammed into two months (not to mention my last week was spent delivering babies in the birth unit).. Time to celebrate with a big beer! My first time having w00t stout.. and I really like it, but can't help but feel like something is missing.. just not picking up much of the barrel flavor.
