Completely agree.

No barrel flavor. Very average.

I was let down too, Advocate.

 

Sound advice that I heeded at Homenclature home furnishings in Valparaiso. A great concept, but one expensive pull of Yuengling! Joking aside, a great store with exceptional customer service.

 

Sweetwater Torikumi. A blonde ale brewed with wasabi and an odd duck. 7.5%, hazy like a NE IPA, smells of sticky orange marmalade, soft bitterness, and a soft mouth feel. I get no wasabi, but I get a lot of the characteristics of a NE IPA.

 

Whoa. This is an "I can smell you from across the room" type of pale ale made by Jack's Abby's alter ego Springdale. Awesome color, very danky, lots of pulpy citrus. This is incredible for a low abv beer.

I like cans for this kind of beer. And this one definitely has more taste compared to the bottle version.

Alright, stopping at 3 slices (1 for each mile I ran today) and 2 beers for now...

California dream pils, I'm ok with it, maybe a 3.5 for my taste.

 

One last afternoon to watch sports with my feet up, then the Christmas/ year's end hysteria kicks in. I save this for days when I can take a few hours to enjoy it and meditate on things.

Always a few Bombs in my refrigerator, varying in age. I think this is a 2016.

My last Sticky Hands until I take the whole family up to Cannon Beach for a week for July 4th. Rented a house right on the beach with gorgeous views of Haystack Rock and The Needles. I'm most excited about getting away from the Texas heat and Oregon beer.

Sierra Nevada Coffee Stout. The coffee esters and flavors on this are amazing.

 

Melvin - Citradamus

Despite being super fresh and highly praised here at BA and elsewhere, I'm seriously not loving this. It's becoming a bit of a trend: Every Melvin I have bought in the East Coast has been kinda sucky, while every Melvin I've had sent to me via a trade has tasted great. Is it because they don't take care of them during transportation or something else?

This is my first of seven new beers this weekend. Time to settle into the dvr’d Chelsea v Newcastle.

 

A very tasty Veil beer from the one and only @vabeerguy.




Taste: juicy then some great bitter notes with a ripe fruit finish that has become prevalent in Veil beers lately. 4.25

Appearance: an orange, hazy, NE IPA with some floaters. Looks like a winner. 4.5

Aroma: Smells like fruit and candy.

Mouth feel: juice up front then some bitterness, but then soft.
