Worked about 14 hours today, so I'm polishing off Heady Topper #2 while listening to, among other things, this:

    My first Pliny.

Fresh batch, it is amazingly clear.

Honestly I expected more, but I might be spoiled by Surly's good hoppy offerings as my go to brews.

Heady on the other hand, melted my face.

Finishing with a Homebrew White IPA; and a personal favorite from my best style ever. Mind blowingly incredible.

I've been lucky to send many a trader their first Headys...for example, I love sending California people Heady. Face melting is a perfectly normal reaction, you have nothing to fear.

The inadequacy of the Elder should not be viewed as such for PtE is an awesome beer, for a west coast IPA.

I didn't in anyway mean it isn't one of the best I've had. If I could get it easily I would drink it all day long, it just didn't hit me as a #2/3 overall if you know what I mean.

Heady was like 3 steps above anything else, plus it caught me by surprise.

Unfortunately we JUST got 2 warm days in a row (60+) so my allergies kicked in and I'm a bit stuffy so I imagine that factored in. Supposed to back down in the low 40's as a high for the next week so I can still taste the remaining PtE's with a proper palate

Side by side with 8 other epic pale ales on Wednesday eve!

Sorry to quote myself, but how often does this come out/how available is it? Because this is seriously one of my top beers ever. Got it in a trade and I would LOVE to get some more!

This is what I'm drinking tonight as well. Not really many hops that can match the oily, resinous, fruity intensity of Simcoe.

A customer brought this to me because he had drank it before and found it too sour for his taste. One man's trash is another man's treasure. It's even better when it's free. So tasty.

At 9.5% this is the lowest ABV of the beers tonight. I am feeling it now.

Visited Belmont Station earlier for the Schooner Exact tasting. While I was there, I got a [highly-anticipated] glass of De Struise Cuvee Delphine. I loved Black Albert, so I assumed Cuvee Delphine would be even better. While it wasn't bad, CD definitely let me down. Very subtle profile and not much barrel character. Not worth the big price tag, IMO.

Back at home now, and just finished a glass of Fort George's Tender Loving Empire. Decent. Gonna watch Bates Motel with my wife and figure out what to partake in next...

Oh for sure. When RR still distributed in Washington state I never passed up a bottle of Pliny, it's a damn good beer, but I also didn't lose my mind trying to seek it out. Plenty of other amazing DIPA's out there.
