    Good morning BA. Hope everybody has a great Sunday. Kicking it off with a 2016 (left) vs. 2017 Weyerbacher Sunday Morning Stout. A blend of the two in the small glass. The 2016 is really smooth, the 2017 still has a nice barrel presence.

    I am having one more morning beer to carb-up before going running. I have found my secret to starting a good single-digit temperature run, is to play the music from the Rocky 4 training montage on YouTube. Unfortunately, my smartphone usually shuts itself off not long after that ends, due to the cold temperature, so at that point I just have to sing songs by myself.

    Two birthday nods dictated what I've been listening to this morning...

    Geoff Tate, 59...

    The album above represents the band's original and desired song order, slightly different from that which EMI released (and what I own)... Saw Queensryche open for Metallica back in the day... Warning is a favorite album, and I dig about half the tracks on Operation Mindcrime, but beyond that, nothing really spoke to me, though Tate's vocals are always incredible...

    Dave Grohl, 49...

    Along those same lines, Nevermind is a classic fave, followed by a coupla tracks from In Utero I dug, and then the death of Kurt Cobain; but I doubt they'd have held my attention much longer at any rate... Then came...

    Didn't realize at the time, but that Foo Fighters debut album, again, really the only album that truly grabbed me, was literally just Dave Grohl. He played, wrote, and produced the whole damn thing in a post-Kurt/Nirvava catharsis... Super-impressive.. He's had a half-dozen or so tunes I've dug since, but he just vibes like a true good dude, so I've always been a fan - and hey, if Lemmy said he's cool, who the fuck am I to disagree?

    Gonna post this here even though this was last night... my wife and I have been drinking the Ola Dubh line, and last night we had the Special 21, 30 and 40 reserve. I will start with a pic of the product line:

    The 21 was pretty good.

    The 30 was even better, more smooth but less of a whiskey taste.

    And the 40 was the smoothest still, deceptively easy drinking but the whiskey taste was there at the end.

    Not sure if it was worth $19.99 on its own, but to complete the series and be able to do what I call a "horizontal" tasting it was.

    Tonight we finish the series with the Special 1991 Vintage.
