What beer are you drinking now? #2021

I've been working on getting my above ground pool to the point of adding water. It's a lot more work than I bargained for and it's kicking my ass. Anyway, time for lunch and a brew.

 

Quick lunch, quick beer . . .



Color so light you can read a newspaper through the glass. Light in aroma, texture and flavor, what's there is refreshingly good just not enough to hold my interest. Friends still like it so we usually have some around.

 

A new to me lunch beer - Dark Horse’s Plead The Fifth “Bourbrum”, stout aged in bourbon and rum barrels:



Boozy bourbon and spirits nose; smooth chocolate and rum up front, followed by figgy dark fruit, plums, semi sweet fruit flavors. Velvety almost full feel. Really satisfying and somewhat boozy...I like!

In between rounds of storms here. 18th Street Temporal Purgatory. Smells better than it tastes, and it tastes great.

 

Water finally going in, working out some wrinkles in the liner before it's too late.

 

Happy Cinco de Mayo when in Rome drink Corona with tacos (if you can find them). I think a day this hot deserves a Fast and Furious run.

Lenny Boy - Queen City Blues

 

At The Brass Tap before the Jackson Browne show in Charm City. Finally got first shot at Braupakt. Gotta say, the early reviews I read were dang near spot on. A bit of bitterness about midpoint when I expect the Hefe to get a bit banana sweet. Just enough to be different, but not to detract from the style.

That head was lovely, almost want to dive into it!

Quite tasty, I think it could be different enough to be somewhat cool (like I’m the arbiter of such - especially since it’s quite hazy), but retrained enough to please the purists. Let it be spoken.

 

Got a pretty good workout in and now it's lunch and beer.

At O’Hare. Scoped out the Goose Island bar and while I would gladly have a Sofie or Matilda, this is really hitting the spot right now. First time with this one. It’s good. I might just have another.
