Wilco and Pliny, two of my all-time favorite things. Just saw Tweedy solo again and he was amazing.

New hop bill/ABV for 2018. Excellent IPA. Nice head retention/lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/rind, light peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, toasted biscuit, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Some resins/rinds, light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, no hop asttiengnecy. Very smooth, not overly aggressive, 6.8%. Definitely a lot better than the old one, less malty. Was Simcoe/Amarillo/Centennial; now Simcoe/Mosaic/Citra. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; nice bready malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness from lingering dryness. Will buy again for sure. They had been improving a lot lately. 4

Fantastic sour as expected. Nice head retention and light spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big sour/tart/tangy passion fruit, fruit skin, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, melon, papaya, berries, green apple, white wine, tequila, oak, hay, straw, and grass; with some wheat, cracker, and agave balance; lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang; and light brett/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced grainy malts, lactic acid, fruit tang, and light oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy fruit dryness. No puckering sourness. Very smooth, pretty refreshing, 6.4%. Not overly lactic. Amazingly juicy fruit and well rounded Brett/bacteria complexity; nice tequila barrel presence, and solid pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Spot on stuff as always. Loved the other Tequila barrel one similarly. 4.25

More new unique Prog Metal I discovered today. Kind of like Tesseract in a way, but add keyboards to it. Really dig it.

Cigar City Jai Alai. #37 for the Phillies charges in on a line drive to center and it goes over his glove by a couple inches. He jumped (sort of). Ruled a triple.

Today was rough, but I have the next two days off. Going to down OKC to watch a former subordinate & good friend sew on Chief Master Sgt. There will be much beer drank tomorrow for sure. So happy for him. His Grandpa actually was in the German Navy in WW II ( Destroyers ).

7 year old bottle with red wax and no date.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 1/2 tan head over a very dark brown (almost black) body with a little lacing. Head doesn't disappear for some time though and its ring is there for the duration. Nose of roasted malt, chocolate, and bourbon. Taste mirrors nose very nicely and the 12% abv is definitely present. If this had a thicker mouthfeel, I'd swear it was a BBA RIS, but it is a porter and feels like most BBA Porters. Overall, a great job from Battle Creek, Michigan where (as per label) this was made. Cheers!

Sounds like a great show! I think Billy has finally found comfort in where he is at. He was really on a mid-life crisis thing there for awhile, and Teargarden was such a disaster. I block out the era where that Mike kid was drumming...blech.

Also, good to hear on keeping things civil. So many bands get political and it's really off-putting. Pearl Jam is a big one for me. Love their music, but Eddie is such a tool sometimes. You'll go to the concert and half way though he'll start ranting about this or that, wars on this and what he doesn't like about the laws the city/state they're playing in just passed... jeez.

Death Cab did that to some extent the couple times I saw them as well.

RATM on the other hand is a politically-focused band - and you know that getting into them, so I don't really mind that as much.
