Back from my trip up to Durango and then Denver. Lots of driving and I'm beat. Drinking a TRVE 7 Doors Grissette. Supposed to go to the Year of the Cobra show tonight, hoping this beer gives me the energy to do so and not the reverse.

 

Finally home after an optometrist visit, grocery shopping, and endlessly walking around Hobby Lobby so the wife can get inspirations for the wedding decor.

I recently drank my 2014 as well. It was phenomenal beer.

 

North High NEIPA. This was excellent! Great head retention/lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit dough malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, zesty, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; very creamy/bready/grainy malts and light sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness. Very smooth drinking, awesome soft feel. Minimal warming 7.2%. Even with the lack of much haze, they nailed it. Feels like Mosaic, Galaxy, Amarillo. Super juicy and lightly dank hops; perfect wheat/oat/malt balance, mild lingering sweetness. Really well made. 4


Excellent stuff. Great head retention/lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of big milk chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, rum, caramel, brown sugar, cream, toffee, toasted oak, and brown bread; with light notes of raisin, molasses, licorice, coffee, smoke, and herbal hops. Light herbal/roast bitterness, and rum/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body. Very creamy/silky malts; light sticky hops, chalky roast, oak tannins, and increasing dryness. Mildly increasing warmth of 10.9%, minimal barrel booziness. Dangerously smooth sipper. Enjoyed this just as much as the 25th rum barrel for the most part; but this is a little less rich/full bodied on malts, despite being higher ABV. Very well balanced dark/roast/bready malt complexity and vanilla; with perfect rum barrel integration. Never boozy, or overly tannic/drying. Really well done as expected. 4

I just really dig the flavor of this beer.

This beer pours pitch black, with a brown 1 finger frothy head. The head retention is quite good, and there's some lacing on the glass.
Then nose is interesting. It has a citrus hop aroma mixed with a licorice aroma.
Taste - Is a dark roasted malty flavor, with a hop finish.
The body is quite decent. The hop feel does linger for a bit in my throat.
This is a solid dark IPA. Quite deep and rich, and complex.

 

Im amazed I’m still going right now. What a day. Another great ipa from Commonwealth. Good night...maybe.

 

This crazy hot humid So Cal weather screams for Pale Ale's and none are better than Monkish Red Hop. Citra and Galaxy perfection.
