arguably the greatest trio from the 70's...at first they were the Diamonds...now the Mighty Diamonds

 

Draining a crowler of Haze & Juice from Something Brewery while watching the second half on the porch.

 

Awesome blonde ale! Flavors of big juicy/tart lemon, lime, juniper berry, coriander, tonic water, and some salt; with some wheat/cracker malts; herbal, floral, grass, and yeasty earthiness. Light-moderate lime peel/spice bitterness and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced grainy malts, sticky spice, and fruit acids in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing tart/spicy dryness. Highly refreshing stuff. They really nailed this idea. Super flavorful for 4%. A bit more malt presence this year, but just as impressive as ever. One of my main go-to summer beers as it was last year. Love that it is in cans now too.


Delicious fruit stout as always. Flavors of big juicy blueberries, caramel, maple syrup, toffee, chocolate, cocoa, toast, dark bread, and light smokey maltiness; with a touch of herbal hops. Bittersweet balanced roasted finish with slight fruit tartness. Medium bodied and very creamy/silky, with slight chalky roast character in the mouthfeel. Touch of roasted dryness. Not super complex, but this nails the idea down to a T. This tastes like blueberry pancakes with balanced chocolaty stout notes mixed in. Vaguely similar to Dark Horse Tres, but less roasty on the malt character. Glad this is year round now. A rotational favorite.

Rye whiskey has seen a 700 some % increase over the last 10 years, yet rye beers are few and far between. Jackie O’s is discontinuing theirs. This one is great and unfortunately only in a seasonal mixed pack

Honestly I really only even pick up a little in Orval over the decades I've enjoyed it

That beer is only bottled with Brett for refermentation in the bottle, you are probably drinking it too young! Fermented with a traditional proprietary Belgian strain to them(also available to homebrewers I think). 3 years = best. Huge Brett, one of the best beers I've had at that age. Serious.

In the I'm a horrible parent category ( Mrs. Powell is working in Tulsa ). I found out my son played with the 9th graders ( thought the 8th graders were just dressing out for moral support except for a few linemen ). He got a few tackles as a back-up, they smoked Gravette & is now moaning about his back & hip. That was a concern, he is not even close to big for his grade

I've had it in Belguim, The UK & the States, even ones with dust seemed to have some barnyard, but not a ton

 

Inspired by Anthony Bourdain.

It was such a solid beer at a great price it came and went around here like it was dope. I'm pretty sure the entire order was accounted for by my brother and I in collusion with every employee in the beer store.
