The following ale is apparently made for the grocery chain Sainsbury’s, and I like it - Traditional Kentish Ale”:

It’s not much to look at, and it comes in a clear glass 500ml bottle, but the nose and taste is earthy lemon hops with semi sweet malt; earthy finish. 100% Kentish Goldings hops. For L 1.50 a pint a tasty citrus forward English ale. Listening to BBC Radio 2 blues & misc this evening ... Cheers!

Saint Etienne. "Nothing Can Stop Us." I saw them live last week and they did this one as an encore piece.

I had ambitious plans for this weekend, but Tropical Storm Florence intervened, and now I’m just doing a YouTube dive and cleaning out the refrigerator.

The annual Octoberfest at our local Sam Adams for employees (my Father-in-Law) and their families.

Of course, 'gotta start with the traditional Octoberfest Lager...

... before moving on to something more in my "wheelhouse", their Hazy New England IPA which is pretty solid. I'll be sticking with these the rest of the afternoon - all you can eat and drink. Thank you Sam Adams!

    Continuing my Stone theme . . .

Hazy deep gold color with good cap and lacing.

Aroma of clean, zesty citrus hops with a somewhat mild yet strongly present malt base. A touch of yeastiness gives the malt away.

Taste is surprisingly mild yet exceedingly rich. Hops forward, of course, yet malt establishes a presence that it maintains throughout. There is an overriding hop presence that reminds me of grapefruit yet it's the fruit itself, not the zest or essential oils. Hops and malt are well blended to a whole that only gives up a bit of bitterness in the finish. Not a single thing out of place here.

Full creamy texture with balancing carbonation.

This is an inspired brew that drinks very well. Not a food matching or casual company brew, rather one to be savored on it's own.

I did enjoy it! I've been reviewing beer since early 2016, and still haven't visited several of the classics, including several Belgian options. Don't get me wrong, I've hit some of the majors like Trappist Rochefort and Chimay, but never Westmalle, Rodenbach, or most of the Fantomes. I figure now is the time to visit them, and I'm very much enjoying it!

I have that in my fridge now! Your picture makes it look excellent. Maybe I'll visit it this weekend before it sells out around town.

This is in Foglesville, about 10 minutes from our house. It was formerly the Strohs Brewery but Sam Adams bought it 10 years ago. On brew days the air is permeated with malt and smells pretty good!
