Exactly the other way around in Germany .

 

Having a Stone evening tonight with this really neat Mixed 4-Pack that I only found today. Keep in mind that 4/6-Packs are pretty much unheard of when it comes to craftbeer in Germany.

There's no need to be too envious, to be honest . I can never find any cans less than 10 weeks old and somehow the Go-To and Ripper just don't taste quite like I remembered them, even though this pack is "rather" fresh at 10 weeks old. Could be palate fatigue from too many NEIPAs lately though...

I do love Arrogant Bastard though, so I'm quite happy about having semi-regular access to that at least. Haven't been able to find it in weeks now though .

Next one up is Ripper. I haven't had this in a while and somehow I used to enjoy it more. Kinda the same thing with the To Go, really. Maybe it's palate fatigue? I sure hope that IPA and Ruination are going to deliver on the resinous, piney goodness that I remember them for!

 

Pretty slow hump day today... You know, I was really happy to find this new Mixed 4-Pack by Stone Berlin recently, but so far it has been a huge disappointment and the IPA, which I used to love, is the worst. Just seems watered down and seriously lacking in that resinous, bitter hop bite, the hops appearing quite floral instead. Terrible, they really fucked this up. @StoneBrewing

 

OK, so I was not very impressed with my first go-round with New Holland's Dragon's Milk Reserve - Banana and Coconut. I really expected much better: those flavors, in a BBA imperial stout, should be right up my alley.

But the beer seems to be very highly regarded around here, including by people whose tastes I respect and with which I normally align. I bought a 4-pack at any rate, so it's time to revisit it, perhaps with a fresher palate this time around.



Still smells - and tastes - artificial to me. Really falls short of greatness in every aspect except appearance.

I'm not a fan boy of the OG Dragon's Milk. I appreciate that it's available year round, and it's a solid beer, but I don't think it can hang with the big boys in the BBA imperial stout realm - despite what some tasters, or blind tastings, have suggested (I've had it enough to form an unbiased opinion, I assure you).

Well, no need to revise the rating, I suppose. Still enjoyable, just not what I'd hoped.
