Took the outside Christmas lights down this morning in a bit of rain and then had a doctors appointment this afternoon, I think I’m due a beer or two. I must admit I bought this for the label and the fact I’ve liked everything I’ve had from Heist Brewery.

Perhaps a little watery, but with a good balance of grainy, caramel malt and grassy, herbal hops as well as notes of toffee and dark fruits and a good bitterness.

Still working on the crowler. It is not going to last long. Thought I would play a real oldie. I am sure there must be one or two gray hairs out there that know it.

Moonraker - Amelia. A 7% coconut NEIPA featuring Mosaic & Citra hops, along with the third-wheeling lactose.
    Canned 12/06/18.
L: Pours a vibrant canary yellow in color. About a fingers worth of a stark white head comprised of loosely packed bubbles was formed form a non-aggressive pour and dissipated rapidly. Loads of residual lacing clings to the glass, making it more enticing.
S: It smells more like coconut than coconut itself. Is that possible? I'm not sure, but this beer is dominated by coconut aromas. The milk sugar is also detectible on the nose, but doesn't smell overtly sweet. Grapefruit, lemon and apricot also come to mind when shoving my nose in the beer. Hop presence is minimal but adds a grassy complexity.
T: Coconut bomb. It is raw and natural tasting, not artificial. It's the thing I taste first, and is also the thing that encompasses the majority of the aftertaste. There is also a decent amount of citrus flavor-wise, mainly grapefruit and lemon. The milk sugar is most noticeable on the finish, which works well with the coconut and reminds me of the Mexican coconut ice cream bars that I have always loved. Hop profile is minimal on the taste.
F: Light to medium in both body and in weight. Carbonation is low to moderate, leaning more on the low side. Carbonation could be amped up a bit, as can the body of the beer. Still, it is by no means bad.
O: Haven't had much experience with coconut IPAs other than Southern Grist's Broconut, but this is great. The coconut, though in abundance, is presented in a natural fashion that works well with the lactose. I do find it hard to believe that I am drinking an IPA, but I am okay with that. At 7% abv, I am all over this.
