de Garde - The Purple with the wife. First time for both of us. Loads of tart raspberry flavor with nice oak complexity. Cheers BA.

Got tired of waiting around for the right opportunity and decided to just open the damn bottle! This is Sump 2017, which still has quite a bit of coffee left in it, although it is perhaps slightly outweighted by a rich chocolate fudge note, which I personally don't really mind all that much. Fantastic, thick, creamy mouthfeel, one of the best non-barrel-aged stouts I've had for sure.

Don't be surprised if this is all I drink tonight. I say that knowing that I might reach for some haze a bit later. Cheers.

Look at this fucking glass, that's how rich, thick and decadent the body of Sump is, never seen anything quite like it in a non-barrel-aged stout. I'm actually finding it difficult to finish this bomber, but in a good way. It's such a rich, decadent beer, yet there's not a trace of booze or overdone sweetness to it.

Really makes me look forward to that BA Abraxas I got stashed away in my cellar!

For some reason imageshack isn’t cooperating with me right now but I’m drinking a Fool’s Errand, a DIPA by Threes Brewing. Nice combo of old and new school. Nice citric creaminess upfront and a nice balance of bitterness on the finish. Beautiful day today!

Had a really shitty day at work so I crushed this pint down in 5 minutes when I got home. It was really good, though. I'll write a review for it later.

Now I'm drinking a Simcoe Bomb while my laundry finishes washing. Great NEIPA.

This band Akercocke is great! They blend a mix of extreme metal genres in a perfect way. Brutal death, black, gothic, and progressive metal existing in perfect harmony. I can't get enough of them.

Weirdly nice day here... seems like that's the case with a lot of BAs. Went and picked up a reverb pedal (Boss RV-6) after work... something I've wanted for a long time. I got my first fully-featured analog synthesizer recently (Arturia Microbrute for those interested... very powerful and affordable machine), and it definitely needs some effect pedal help to do what I want to do with it (ambient stuff and experimental electronic music). Anyway, I have Thursday off so I'll spend most of the day messing with the new equipment seeing what I can coax out of it.

    On to the current drink...

Got this from a buddy of mine. Thanks Chris! Review here!

Eh, I could live without this one. It's alright, but it's just kind of a plain RIS-style beer. Doesn't taste like milk & cookies at all. Better concept than execution.

As someone who has spent a good deal of time in the great state of Michigan, I wish I had a Two hearted ale to drink with my BA brothers as there is no doubt in my mind that Two Hearted is the state beer of Michigan and always solid IMHO. However I am paying hommage to the tiny yet bountiful state of Rhode Island with Tilted Barn's The Other One. cheers

Starting on the pastry stout a bit early this evening - Evil Twin’s “Imperial Mexican Biscotti Cake Break”, brewed by Westbrook:

Almond/vanilla nose; it smells just like a Biscotti cookie! Cocoa, bitter sweet dark chocolate, almonds, vanilla with a touch of cinnamon; pepper sauce middle, but lightly so; baker’s chocolate and roast coffee finish. Medium full, moderate minus carbonation, prickly pepper tingle on tip of tongue; no warmth from 10.5% abv which is completely hidden and dangerous. Overall, spot on Biscotti cookie, with coffee and mocha blended with a little spicy heat from the habanero’s...Westbrook’s Mexican Cake if it were a Cookie! I can’t put the glass down...on to the second pour!
