Sixpoint's fresh dry hop IPA distro has been killing it over the last 6 months. I have one more in the fridge.

    Founder's KBS

    4.6/5 rDev 0%
    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.75 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

    2019 Release -- 12.2% ABV

Opaque black and brown body; thick, dense, frothy and sticky head; Well-balanced aroma mingling notes of coffee, roasted and charred grain and elements of dark, bitter chocolate; mocha. Immediate hit of whiskey which quickly dissolves into rich milk chocolate, coffee and caffeine. Heavy body; dense and luscious sense of velvet and residual sugars; warm with lots of boozy heat; semi-sweet.

At long last I get to try some of this beer. I am not disappointed. And compared to the price of Founder's Canadian Breakfast Stout, KBS would be my preferred choice for an epic Founder's imperial stout. The bourbon barrel aging is prominent yet is nicely balanced and offset by the base imperial stout. A wonderful beer that is deserving of its reputation based solely on taste and mouthfeel.

...Rocket the Wonder Dog and I went on a few errands. This is us on our way to Andy's Meat Market (it's a local equivalent of craft beer, only for meat) to pick up some elk summer sausage, rib steaks, and German sausage. We shared a slab of bison jerky while driving to our other stops...

I used to like Sun Kil Moon / Mark Kozelek, but his last few releases (including his latest release -- I Also Want to Die in New Orleans) plain suck. Now, David Lindley...

Poured into a 13 oz Funk Brewing Company Teku glass canned on 3/12/19. Pours a very attractive hazy dark yellow with a 2 finger sticky white head that leaves thick streaks of lace with excellent retention. 4.5

Smell guava, tangerine, pineapple, and some mild grapefruit rind very nice. 4.5

Taste follows tropical front to back guava, apricot, mandarin, pineapple, and a healthy shot of grapefruit lingers on the tongue after every sip. 4.5

Mouthfeel is big, nice soft feel on the tongue, sticky but not dry, and at 8% goes down easy but is full of flavor! 4.75

Overall I went in with massive expectations and it lived up to what I was hoping for. Schilling Beer Co. well done. 4.5[IMG]

Mrs. BeerGoot is hell-bent on remodeling our attached one-car garage into living/storage/laundry room space. Only $80K roughly (covering not just the remodel, but things like HVAC, plumbing, and such). I won't go into specifics, but as we (hopefully) gently fade into our retirement years, this is something I face with fear and trepidation. Not for the work, the cost. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for her and me to get some more livable space out of our 50's era single family ranch house, but the overall cost (to me) doesn't justify the benefits. I piss on HGTV...

Regardless, we're meeting with our investment manager in three hours to see how full-retirement and this huge 'home improvement' project may impact things. So, getting fortified now...probably my final beer (and bourbon) until later this evening...I need to maintain my wits about me as the financial chatter goes on...
