Hot tub time, Stone Delicious IPA
Ah...malt is where the heart is.
I hate difficult co-workers, don't you? Why people can't just be decent and stop powertripping is beyond me. Live and let live. Don't be a douche. Is it that hard? Stop being a manager if you're not a manager. Know your role, asshole! ....Anyways, I'm home after a furious session at the gym to relieve this work stress and I'm still not off of it so I'm cracking some heavy beers.
Unfortunately, while anticipation was built up over a year in my cellar for me on this one, it just didn't live up. It's very odd - root beer and paint chips, with dark chocolate, hops, toasted malt, and dry whiskey. I just can't jive with it. The feel is on the thin side, I'd say it's probably medium bodied, like a heavier brown ale. Perhaps lighter than a porter even. Just not doing well here. 3.82 out of 5, luckily I got it for $11 on clearance instead of the $22 they were going for originally when they came out. One thing's for sure - basic Old Raspy for me from now on, this BA Raspy is pretty bad.
hot dam this guy is legit af!
A Guinness Draught Stout paired with a Guinness bacon burger from 4 Daughters Irish Pub
Ivan the Terrible is the same. Regular is awesome and ages well. The BA is thin and astringent, like a cheap whiskey and coke.
Already planning my 8-mile run tomorrow to work off all these beers.
Skipping Stone doesn’t let down in typical Jackie O’s barrel program fashion. It’s just straight up delicious.
Recently found out that Firefly Amber will no longer be in production. That being said, I’m on my third one of the night. It’s a solid beer I wish I had bought more of.
Founders - Green Zebra
Cheers LNBA’s. Had a blast at the Mumford and Sons concert in Missoula this weekend. Totally worth the 10 hour round trip. Stopped and picked up some bottles and cans along the way. This one is an ‘Italian Pilsner cold-conditioned for nearly 60 days then dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin’. Canned 8/01.
Closer, Sixpoint Ruby Jammer. Big moonlit night, what I've noticed; Haven't seen any lightning bugs in over a month, see,s way too soon for them to have gone to ground.
Fishin' In The Dark
Very nice. Canned 7/17.
I guess my insomnia continues tonight. So, this:
Kind of getting my film wall together...
@Hinda65 sent this to me in our last trade!!
Incredible complexity. Incredible depth. 11.7% no joke. Very nice aromas. Heavy acrid roast notes on the palate, but balanced with whiskey and rum soaked oak, coffee, tobacco, dark fruit, shades of vanilla, and fruity esters. Very deep. Wonderful mouthfeel. Solid stuff. 4.2 out of 5. Thanks Rick!
Props on the poster, @RaulMondesi. Wild Bunch is one of the best Westerns ever.
Drinking my last of this while hanging out in the basement.
Nightcap. Cheers fam.
Dumped the Lagunitas Pils. It tasted a bit old... I snagged it from my parents house, so I’m not tripping. But I wish they bottle dated.
They do, you just have to spend a few minutes holding it up to the light looking like a fruit loop in the grocery store.
Julian dating? Pass.
The only calculating that should be done when shopping for beers is how many of it you can drink before you’re too fucked up.
I wish it didn’t matter, but with IPA’s it does for me. Used to think I didn’t like the style until I found out. To each their own.
One of the lighter ones these guys have made so far. I like it.
I’ve only drank this beer straight from the bottle. Was surprised to see this red hue:
Here’s to @RaulMondesi and @mschrei. For $12 a 6 pack this was a science experiment. Bottled 3/30, and does not hold up four and a half months later as it did fresh. Really wanted some 2x4, and Bozeman is the only city in the state that gets it. Both were this old this trip. Crazy that this style was developed for longevity, but now it’s the most perishable.
3F Zenne Y Frontera Batch 3 blend 20. This is the best lambic I have ever had. Released today and I was lucky enough to be present. So amazing!
Shout out to my boy @JayWhitson . The bartender gave me a can of this on the house because I brought him a grumbler of Alpine Keene Idea - I’m just happy to please. Although I Love Beachwood, I’ll just say that this one isn’t a favorite of mine.
You’re living it up! Cheers!
